My quilt series - Generative Threads - integrates algorithmic code with quilting to examine identity’s cyclical evolution. Through shifting colour and geometric pattern, the work reflects states of visibility, erasure and personal expansion.
#genart 13 years of quilting + code. 🖤

Ooh! I love the colour palette you used so much. ♥️
So beautiful! 👏
👏👏 Yes!

It takes Processing about 2 seconds to render this design and it takes me approximately FOREVER to sew it. This is 10/13 (but I’m not doing them in order so I have 7 more to go. 😭) #genart #generativeart
I only photograph quilts on the windiest days.
Generative Threads Quilt 13/13. Designed with 13 year old code and handmade with love. 🖤
Credit where credit is due: my Processing + Hype framework started as a collab w/ Joshua Davis. Forever grateful.

I use Processing to randomly generate designs that I then make into quilts.

Facing a quilt with gold fabric. On a scale of 1 - 10, How fun will it be to hand-stitch through the pigment? ☠️
Went to my doctor today to talk about 50yo lady stuff. I love that she asked if I’ve read ‘All Fours’ by Miranda July. Yep… 😭
I figured it was a contract issue. It’s so spread out and don’t even get me started on trying to find coffee nearby. 😵💫
:\ My least favourite QC venue. Maybe they signed a multi-year contract?
Stack of papers with geometric designs, marked up in pen with lines and measurements to make into a real quilt.
Stack of three quilt tops made in cotton fabrics in black, grey, pink, aqua and acid yellow.
I’ve quietly been working on 13 Quilts. All designed by original generative code I began using 13 years ago in collab with @praystation.
I’ve always loved that the computer is like, “Surprise! Here’s some crazy shit I came up with. Now figure out how to make it real.”
Exhibit in France this Fall.
I have an electric rotary which is like a power tool to cut through multiple layers at once.
Dang it! I missed this. 😢
Japan is even dreamier than I could have imagined.
Photo of a quilt top made with a variety of triangle sizes in bright colours, gold and black fabrics.
I finished the top of Quilt 13 for my Generative Threads project. Only twelve more to go. Used the original #Processing code from 2012 to render the series. #genart #generativetextiles
Photo of an in-progress fabric banner. White linen background fabric with the words ‘Eat the Rich’ in uppercase gold and black fabrics.
Working on a project that I need to get out of my brain.
Happiness is a rainbow 🌈 especially one of new #quilting #fabric 😻 Some @libselliott.com Phosphor colours for my stash.
Photograph of colourful quilt blocks on a design wall for an in-progress quilt being pieced together based on a digital render from Processing code.
The top for Number 13 of 13 generative quilts, designed with #Processing code from 2012, is almost complete! 😅 Downside… I’m working backwards so I still have 12 quilts to go. 😂

The other night, my American nephews wanted to watch the Adam Sandler movie ‘50 First Dates’ but I thought they said ‘51st State’ and it shook me to my core.
That’s the thing… I’m more than just my business so sometimes I feel like I need a place to share other things. And, no matter where or what I post, my values come first.
