Forcing myself not to work on my game today or anything productive, I've been really burning it at both ends here and next week is going to be even more busy with GDC. Hopefully I'll be able to get a few things stabilized soon and take some of this stress off.

I get that everyone wants to believe Noem is getting fired, but uh I'm pretty worried about what this “Shield of the Americas” thing they are talking about is supposed to be... sounds like more military aggression in Latin America to me.
I want to get slay the spire 2 but I'm actually somehow incredibly busy right now, like 4 different plates spinning, everything is chaos and happening all at once. I'm gonna have to actually wait or I know I'm gonna lose a few days at least.
They are trying to obfuscate their own responsibility by blaming the AI that they set up. The people responsible are the ones who set this up and acted on the output. Don't let them shed the blame by pointing at a computer program that they set up and decided to listen to.

If you can get decent retention, THEN you start to do the heavy marketing and user acquisition. Trying to frontload that cost without verifying people actually want to play the game is crazy.
And yeah you obviously need to have a decent runway after launch costed into the initial budget.
You think you have the idea for the next big live service game? Great, make the absolute smallest version of it for less than $10m (even this is inflated vs normal mobile of under $5m) and put it out to see if players stick.
If they aren't retaining, either fix the problem areas, or move on.
I was talking about this with a friend of mine who absolutely loves God of War Ascension the multiplayer one lol, apparently there is a tiny community still playing sometimes. He said you will hang out in the lobby for an hour while people slowly drift in then get a few matches in.
