The light I think is coming on. When done the rear bar is removed and voila, you have a wrap around each warp?
I donβt quite get it, the heddle string tie off to the front rod and the appear to just go over the back rod, I donβt see how the warp is attached. Looking at the loom you would pull the front rod to create a shed?
#Barbados
So was working through old photos and found this from 20 years ago. We were in Barbados and on an Island Tour. I think this was the north end of the island and saw these most unusual animals. I would have never though that we would now raise them.
Ewes, too, for that matter. Iβm amazed at the strength in their necks when they get their heads in a feed bucket and donβt want to be pulled outβ¦.
When people ask us if we shear our own sheep, we try not to laugh out loud. The ewe's are usually calmer so he does all the rams first while he is fresh. The shearing is a dance, with many holds. Each shift of the sheep has a hold and a support and is designed to keep them calm and in place.
So not having a windmill to go check out locally, I found this about the barbados windmill. It does get cloth coverings on the blades. Not nearly as fun as going to see one for real, though.
Iβm officially color deficient and got a .0055 I canβt tell some blues from purple or some greens from brown. I think I got these on saturation or brightness.
The shearer is a big guy, but Sebastian is big and feisty.
From shearing day, we were pretty busy so just have some WebCam footage. This is Sebastian, one of our biggest and rowdiest rams. He gets to be first done in the morning, while the shearer is fresh.
Or animal shelters
We have a similar arch as an entrance into our butterfly garden
There is another element to this juxtaposition. The Porsche is pretty old, probably a turbo circa 1980s-90s. That Porsche was an over the top, drool worthy car. But would be rather average for today. The exact same could probably be said about the steam engine. Hot Today, Not Tomorrow.
Now If I could just find a solar field near me that isn't 500+ acres and needs 1000 sheep.
Shearing day, NSFW naked ewe pictures.
Lookin Good! Congrats π
Good Luck! Turn , fold, refrigerate, repeat :)
Like in person or zoom? I wonder how angry he is in person, or one of those angry music nice person types.
Looks to be doing the I canβt get comfortable dance. I think you are right and lambs will delight you shortly.
MERL (Museum of English Rural Life) got it in 1. 3 for me.
A railroader and a manager of a Safeway grocery store. G-Moms were a farmer/housewife and a church lady and president of the local womenβs Christian temperance union.
This was the Sugar Mill I was remembering. The tail on the back allowed them to rotate the blades into the wind. In a description they said they put the sails on it on sundays, so It would seem the lattice would be covered with canvas.
I was imaging way to complicated, like the blades feathered.
Congrats! I love to eat and avoiding restaurants and lots of farm exercise keeps me from being the fat version of myself.
It just is fun looking at the mechanics of it. Do the white panels feather back to create force. Is there and adjusting angle of attack, rotation of the top?
Iirc in Barbados they had cane crushing mills where the top rotated into the wind.
Yep, here is some of the mom crew with their several month old lambs.
We have 24 amuracana (a couple of olive eggers in that count) we have our first trial batch of 9 in a Christmas incubator. Seeing how it goes.
