We're back after the break! Today is Miranda Ray's little story of growing houses:

He started out growing matchbooks in his backyard when he was ten. Every year, and every subsequent science fair, his craft eveolved until he was growing birdhouses.

Today! Read the alt-universe dreams of @sarahgracetuttle.bsky.social in their story "A Pothos, Once Freed":

In this universe, she kept the window closed. Her pothos plant pressed its leaves against the glass and stretched toward the sky as best it could."

Today we're highlighting our first micro-story, penned by the poetic askresnak.bsky.social --

"The virus makes the petals bioluminescent," she told me. "It'll blow you away. But it'll destroy the species."

"Who would've thought," I said. "What's your life like? Who's your father?"

Letter from the Editor: Our Inaugural Issue โ€“ ivy. literary magazine

We swear we had a good reason for the delay! You can read about it in our Letter from the Editor. Murphy's Law and all of that.

Ok, we lied. We're also 100% against the use of AI in writing. ChatGPT is not part of the optimistic future we're imagining. Humans got us into this mess, and humans are going to get us out. AI can be in the stories, but you, the writer, need to be the one that tells it.

We want to share positive, optimistic stories. There's a lot of dystopia out there (like... everywhere). But we know things can be better. They MUST be better. So, let's imagine a future where things ARE better.

That is our only requirement. Really.

ivy. is meant to share stories that grow on you. The ones that are short, sweet, and to the point, but that leave a lasting impression.

We're keeping it short - 400 words or less. We want these to be shareable, because the more people that read your work, the better.
