“Officer-involved shooting” is a linguistic dodge. It is passive language designed to blur responsibility and sanitize what amount to extra-judicial killings. It exists so no one has to say who did what to whom.
We do not kill people for minor crimes. It should be just as unacceptable to threaten, intimidate, or punish people for exercising a basic right to protest.
Calling ICE “law enforcement” is technically true and completely beside the point. Enforcing a law does not make that law just, and it does not excuse what is done in its name. Pretending otherwise is cowardice.
I’m so angry and upset about the second shooting in Minnesota this morning. Horrified that the federal government is causing unnecessary and cruel suffering with the thinnest of pretense.

I’m deep into a Mad Men rewatch and just got to the episode where Kennedy was shot. They went to great pains to show that even for Republicans it was a moment of deep sadness and reflection as a Nation. Of course Kennedy never told anyone to “shut up, Piggy” on a hot mic.
