Album cover for the Astro's Playroom soundtrack, showing the titular character, Astro Bot, a white and blue robot with stubby limbs and a black LCD face with blue eyes, running to the right against a gradient blue background with his scarf flowing behind him.
Album cover for the Astral Ascent Original Game Soundtrack, featuring a painting of a brightly-lit fantasy setting with a large, complex building in the middle of a cliff and surrounded by trees, greenery, clouds, and mountains in the distance. Warm accent lighting streaks down from the blindingly bright overcast sky.
Album cover for the Mars First Logistics Original Soundtrack, with a peach-coloured background and an abstract symmetrical teal and white design in the center. I don't know what it is but it's kind of like a nine-pointed star.
Album cover for the Astral Ascension soundtrack, wherein a pink-haired anime-styled girl is shown from the waist up occupying the majority of the frame and looking towards the viewer with purple eyes. The braid in her hair stands out against the muted colours of her outfit, while in the background a futuristic cityscape of bright lights and glass skyscrapers is visible with a heavy bloom effect.
New additions to Rainwave for a (lunar) new year! Astral Ascension, Astral Ascent, Mars First Logistics, Star Gagnant, Star Ixiom, and Astro's Playroom are now in stable orbit!
Additionally, the server maintenance is concluded, and all streams should now be back in sync and free of delays or interruptions. If you experience any trouble, please let us know.
Very excited to announce that Rainwave now has a Chill station! Our first new stream in 15 years, it's a curated collection of relaxed/lo-fi/chill songs to vibe to, with all of Rainwave's normal features underneath. See our Discord for the full announcement and check out the new section of the site!
Yeah, sorry about that. The server updates broke a piece of our streaming software so we're having to make a new one from scratch. We'll be running tests over the next two days so we can deploy a fix soon.
You may be noticing some instability on Rainwave as we endure ten years worth of software updates at once. The site may be slightly out of sync with what you hear - just pretend you're Nic Cage in the movie Next. If any streams go offline entirely or other bugs occur, please let us know on Discord.
If you want to hear all the new music in a concentrated block, tune in on Monday the 19th at 11:00 a.m. Pacific, or if you're an insomniac or a European, try the 20th at 2:00 a.m. Pacific.
Album cover for the Goddess of Victory: Nikke Original Soundtrack, where an anime-styled woman with long hair is depicted in profile, leaning from left to right with a determined, open-mouthed expression and her head rendered in grayscale. She wears a thick dark jacket with a high collar and a lighter lining. The background is a faint, distant image of what looks like a damaged industrial setting. The game's logo appears in the bottom right and a list of composers runs down the right side of the image, rotated 90 degrees.
The wait is over: Goddess of Victory: Nikke is breasting boobily onto Rainwave with 43 songs selected from its infinitely vast soundtrack. From chipper rock music with ultra clean guitars to dramatic orchestras, heavy metal, and chiptunes, it's quite a spread.
I cannot fathom why you'd put yourself through this, but I hope the music is able to ease the journey.

Album cover for the Year 200X EP World of Ruin, a piece drawn entirely in black, white, and red, showing a crimson winged demonic figure lit from behind in a dull white that fades to black, with red flames licking up from the bottom of the frame.
Album cover for the Vision Square album by salvation by faith records, which depicts the album title in the same visual style as the Final Fantasy logos, set on a plain white background.
Album cover for Bi Score's "Is This Persona?" album, a redrawn version of the "Is this a pigeon?" meme. A feminine person with dark tousled hair raises a hand towards a fairy, looking up at it with an open-mouthed smile, in front of a dull salmon-coloured wall with a white-framed window.
Album cover for Bi Score's "This Is Persona." EP, also based on the "Is this a pigeon?" meme, redrawing it in a mirrored arrangement relative to the other cover. A girl with red hair, red eyes, and a school uniform is visible from the shoulders up, extending a hand towards a fairy floating in front of her.
New this week on Rainwave:
- Selected Persona and Shin Megami Tensei songs covered by Bi Score
- Danceable electronic Final Fantasy remixes from VISIONβSQUARE
- Diverse shmup arrangements from the Kiku ga Yoi. doujin album
- The World of Ruin EP from VGM cover forerunners Year 200X
Box art for Blinx: The Time Sweeper on Xbox, showing a cartoon orange and white cat wearing a blue jacket looking up and out of frame to the viewer's left. Various creatures assemble in the background against a white void. VHS-style play/pause/rewind controls appear at the bottom below the logo.
Album cover for the Quiz Magic Academy V Original Soundtrack, depicting four women performing as a band. A redhead wearing a small, frilly pink sleeveless top acts as the DJ in the foreground with headphones and a turntable, while a guitarist, upright bassist, and melodica player stand back to the left in front of a yellow/orange abstract background.
Album cover for the To a T Original Soundtrack, which is a yellow background with a lot of various simple cartoon people T-posing amid stars, shirts, and other assorted objects.
Album cover for the Grinsia Original Soundtrack, with an ornate yellow and orange script logo set against a large painted tree with dark bark and a bright green canopy of leaves with sunlight streaming down.
If you're confused and disoriented by the new year, consider fast-forwarding it by listening to Blinx: The Time Sweeper, or one of the other new soundtracks added to Rainwave this week which include Grinsia, To a T, Quiz Magic Academy V, and Akatsuki Blitzkampf.*

oh god, it's mutating
No problem! I appreciate you tuning in. Quotes for exact search terms + cross-referencing database results for member and release listings got some pretty decent leads, but for such an old project it's tough finding anything active when all the socials are dead.
I'm not sure why they cut down the tracklist for Bandcamp. Maybe licensing issues, maybe they felt differently about some of their old material when they were putting it up for reissue. Your best bet would be to ask Shawn Phase directly, probably: www.patreon.com/shawnphase 2/2
Sorry for not seeing this sooner! I checked VGMdb and they list way more than 13 songs on the original release (vgmdb.net/album/11406), and that tracks with this archive of an old storefront page (web.archive.org/web/20120414...). It's also visible in the CD pics on the Bandcamp page. 1/2
Album cover for the CTGP Deluxe soundtrack. A logo modeled after the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe logo appears in the center, with the red and blue infinity eight design and the rainbow-framed "Deluxe" all sitting on a dark grey background of various racing-styled decals.
Cover art for Touhou 12.5: Double Spoiler. A blue and white astral silhouette of a woman in a dress stands to the right, superimposed against a large strip of negative film in the background cutting an orange swath into the dark murky dark blue. Some unreadable reversed text spans the center of the image.
Album cover for the Shadow Trick Original Soundtrack. The game's logo features prominently at the top, the first word black with bright blue outlines and the second word in yellow with a round, bubble letter font. In the center of the image, a round figure appears wearing red and white shoes and shrouded by a purple cloak, with only their yellow eyes visible through the void of their face. Their shadow peers out behind them, not mirroring their posture. An orange foreground figure of similar description illuminates them with a lantern, shedding light on the wood floor and blue tiled wall.
Album cover for the Hanakisou PS2+PD Soundtrack. A man in a long blue-grey coat sits in a hazy, bloomy snow drift. Hair of a blue/grey/white colour covers most of his face, which is turned towards another man with his arms around him. The second figure is in white with red hair and red eyes, embracing the first man and looking towards the viewer with a solemn expression. Snowflakes and other abstract shapes frame them and the hilt of a sword is visible to the left going out of view.
Quench your ears with the new soundtracks on Rainwave this week! Amazing arrangements from Mario Kart 8 mod CTGP Deluxe have arrived, as well as Touhou 12.5, Generation Xth, Hanakisou, and tohomoko's great digital fusion soundtrack for indie game Shadow Trick. Hear them all Monday at 11 a.m. PST!
Uh, how do you even describe this. It's a bootleg doujin trading card styled after a Game Boy handheld game console, green with pictures of buttons along the bottom and a central image which acts as the console's display screen. The "screen" is transparent and blue-tinged, and printed on it is fan artwork of the video game character Mario, an Italian plumber who traditionally wears a red shirt and cap and blue overalls. He's running from left to right and he's covered in trippy abstract and psychedelic patterns that overlap his clothing and hair. In the lower right corner of the card, it says "HELLo MARIO," and in the lower left corner it says "Fight Mary Brothers."
Thanks for the kind words! I wish we had some sort of Rainwave Wrapped for folks. Instead, please enjoy this sweet bootleg trading card I got at a convention. Thanks for tuning in!
The kind words are much appreciated. π Thanks to everybody for tuning in!
Box art for the Famicom Disk System game VS. Excitebike, showing motorcyclists clad in red and blue drawn in a superdeformed chibi style with large heads driving through a dusty race course in front of a large crowd.
Title screen for the fan game Mega Man: Super Fighting Robot, with the game's logo on a black screen and a red helmet spotlighted in the foreground.
Box art for the PC-98 game POWER DoLLS, showing a silver robotic humanoid mech exchanging gunfire in an impressionistic forest scene. It holds a submachine gun in its right hand, muzzle flash point off screen, while a shot glances off its shield on its left arm.
Promotional flier for the Sega arcade game Quartet, with a teal background and a drawing in the center showing four figures armed with futuristic guns marching towards the viewer: an ambiguously-gendered person in the front with poofy brown hair and light armour, a man to the right in a blue tank top with mid-length hair and a caterpillar mustache, a small woman on the left in a revealing pink-red uniform, and a broad, bald dark-skinned man in the back with a rocket launcher on his back.
New chiptunes on the radio this week! The classic Sega arcade title Quartet, excellent authentic work from the fan game Mega Man: Super Fighting Robot, Soyo Oka's OST for VS. Excitebike, and a pair of fun PC-88/98 soundtracks in Elm Knight and POWER DoLLS. Check them out!
I got distracted by a car accident, so no new music this week. Instead, tune in tomorrow (Nov. 10th) at 11 a.m. PST for an hour of recently added selections which don't have enough user ratings to show a global average. Like Caesar in the Colosseum, you alone control these songs' fates. π / π / ππ
Album cover for the Blue Client Touhou jazz arrange album, showing a blue-haired anime girl in a white dress and wide-brimmed black hat playing a saxophone.
Album cover for the Magical Trick Society Akumajo Dracula ~ Odi et amo ~ album. A drawing of a black, lifeless tree is silhouetted against a large full moon. Very minimal colour is used.
Album cover for the NewHome Underground Airport Undertale doujin album. Papyrus, a skeleton, is dressed for travel, holding a shoulder bag and dragging wheeled luggage which Sans, a smaller clothed skeleton, sits on. They walk through an airport. Their art is rendered in detailed black and white, outlined against a monochromatic sketched background.
Album cover for RoBKTA's Club Needlemouse album, showing a futuristic computer monitor on which an image of Earth is shown with golden rings and brown asteroids floating in front of it. A blue bolt of lightning darts between the rocks, eventually breaking out of the screen and out of frame.
aaaaa a bunch of people followed us and I realized I've been forgetting to post about new music. Last week we added fan arrangements of Touhou, Sonic, Castlevania, and Undertale - see the attached images. Stay tuned next weekend for new chiptunes. You can always join the Discord for more details!
Thanks for the kind words! We're glad we can provide an alternative to the nightmare of the modern internet. π
Nobody asked for this, but we did it anyway: rainwave.cc/shop
Album cover for the Azure Striker Gunvolt soundtrack, also known as Armed Blue Gunvolt in Japan. It shows the main character, an anime-styled man with spiked blonde hair and blue metal armor, pointing a gun towards the viewer while blue lightning crackles around him.
Album cover for the Bloons TD Battles 2 soundtrack. A monkey in tactical gear holding a fortified compound bow points at another monkey with fire for hair and some kind of flamethrower in his hands? They stand in a grassy field in a tropical jungle with the hint of a city peeking through the background.
Album cover for the Tokimeki Memorial 2 Vol. 1 soundtrack. A red-haired girl with a school uniform of a green long-sleeved jacket, yellow short skirt, and red ribbon stands in the foreground, with a composite of headshots of other characters with various hair colours and expressions. All are drawn in an anime style on a white backdrop.
Album cover for Maximum Impulse, the Sonic Riders Tournament Edition soundtrack. Sonic is drawn in a sketchy style, wearing green goggles on his forehead and appearing to dropkick directly towards the viewer with his red shoe large in frame. A blue and white abstract background is dotted with various visual elements recalling futuristic design trends of the 2000s.
This week, selections from Azure Striker Gunvolt, Tokimeki Memorial 2, and Bloons TD Battle 2 have been added to Rainwave, as well as music from incredible fan project Sonic Riders Tournament Edition!
No way, that sounds awesome.
Thanks for the shoutout! Fuck ICE and fuck Spotify for platforming extremists.
Cobalt Core Original Soundtrack album cover, featuring pink/purple/blue humanoid animal people, possibly reptiles, piloting a domed spacecraft.
Kabuto Park Original Soundtrack album cover, showing a young girl with long hair and a yellow hat running with a bug net after a beetle through a sunflower field against a cloudy, bright blue sky.
Loop8: Summer of Gods Original Soundtrack album cover, showing a male high school student with dark hair and a female student with raspberry hair sitting on the walkway outside a Japanese-style building with some nearby foliage.
Tantei Jinguji Saburo: Innocent Black Original Soundtrack album cover, showing the titular detective turning towards the camera holding a notepad that reads "SHINJUKO OP". Striking lighting illuminates his weathered face and brown suit but leaves most of him in shadow against a black and dark blue abstract background.
The soundtracks to Kabuto Park, Cobalt Core, Loop8: Summer of Gods, Wolf Fang: Kuuga 2001, and Tantei Jinguji Saburo: Innocent Black are new on Rainwave this week! Tune in in an hour to hear the full block of new selections back-to-back.

August may be hot, but we're keeping things cool with new chill music additions: Zelda & Chill II & III, Samus & Chill, Souls & Chill, Chilltendo Deluxe, and The World Is Square's Square Love all came to the Covers channel this month. Look forward to more relaxing music in a new project this fall!
