Another situation that requires thorough investigation and accountability.
And before anyone comes at me, if your reply is that of course that would happen in your workplace, then your workplace is really bad.
Not good enough. He needs to be out now. He has no place in Congress. Imagine someone relentlessly harassing a subordinate in your workplace with fatal consequences and your HR department saying, "yeah, well, we kinda need you for the next year, so please stay til then."
That led to her death.
Fine, but this isn't good enough for me. Even if it creates an incumbent advantage and lessens the chances of a pickup, this guy needs to be out now.
We must demand accountability if, as seems increasingly likely, the US military conducted the horrific strike on the school. Thank you to the investigators who are pursuing the truth.
I love this so much!
I've always wondered: does he respond at all to the aesthetics of what you present to him? Is he an epicurean? The salads are always so pretty.
I still marvel at the conjunction of "climate change is making sea levels rise and making storms worse" with "let's build a lot more expensive stuff on or near the beach."
This is the sort of thing that keeps me on social media even in anxious times.
If you've ever worked with this population, you know that every investment of support, $$ or time, pays off a hundredfold for them and for those of us who will benefit from their civic membership and participation in the future. I'd love to see Rey hit his target! Please help if you're inclined.
My colleague Rey Koslowski is driving the process here. He has mounted a challenge that will provide additional financial support to these students to help make their experiences here less stressful and more successful.

I'm sorry, but what would be the legal justification for allowing the federal AG to intervene in state bar disciplinary proceedings? Is there, as my civ pro prof used to say, "an argument"?
The current total votes on the Texas SoS website for the US Senate primaries stand at:
2,160,662 (D) with 86% precincts reporting
2,048,488 (R) with 92% precincts reporting
A difference of +112,174 for the Democrats
In 2018 when only Dems has a contested statewide primary it was +506,659 (R)
Mill was right about so many things.
Horrifying.
My law & courts list was 22 pages. SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED ME.
Like and yet unlike from a courts perspective. See my article! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1...
Not enough chaos in the world for you right now? Lol.
I feel like we typically see these sorts of completely outraged opinions from federal judges a couple times a year across the whole country, maybe a little more often in last few years. Now, in cases stemming from Trump's immigration crackdown, judges are ringing the alarm bell several times a week.
Have you met the guy who won the primary? www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/tex...
you'd have no clue reading that that 1st supreme court race of 2026 is today
or that the lawmakers who facilitated the ICE crackdown in North Carolina are fighting for their careers
or that a DA who's pledged to go after federal agents faces reelection
it doesn't all start & end with Congress!
I'm seriously considering replying to every social media post that starts "I asked ChatGPT" or "I asked Claude" with, "well I asked MY MOM!"
This usually goes great, right? Fighting with a judge in a contempt hearing?
I've been thinking about this. They are also prepping "Biden let them in." Let's keep in mind how the administration has chosen to use its resources regarding immigration enforcement and counterterrorism over the last year.
Happy election day to those who celebrate!

The thread you need:
Screenshot of excerpt from opinion that reads: "Despite this, the New York courts refused to stay the trial courtβs order. After that highly questionable injunction was issued, the applicants filed appeals in both the Appellate Division (the Stateβs intermediate appellate court) and the Court of Appeals (its highest court) challenging the trial courtβs order on federal constitutional grounds. At the same time, applicants asked both courts to stay the trial courtβs order. The Appellate Division refused to issue a stay, and by order issued on February 11, the Court of Appeals sent the appeal filed in that court to the Appellate Division and dismissed applicantsβ motions for a stay."
With nowhere else to turn, the applicants asked us to issue a stay, and we have jurisdiction to entertain their application. Title 28 U. S. C. Β§1257(a) gives us jurisdiction to review β[f]inal judgments or decreesβ that are rendered by a Stateβs highest court and adjudicate federal constitutional claims, and the Court of Appealsβ February 11 order falls within that category.
1/9: In the New York redistricting case, Justice Alito's justification for why #SCOTUS even had *jurisdiction* to issue a stay is based upon a remarkably misleading portrayal of the state court proceedings.
I realize this is technical, but I wanted to write a short thread to explain the shadiness:
It also makes me feel like this is the punchline to Moore v. Harper. Sure, no independent state legislature nonsense. But SCOTUS can come in and do what it wants regardless of how carefully the state courts do their work.
