Too often, it led to repression, corruption, bloodshed & generations of resentment toward America.
Authoritarian fantasy resurfaces in foreign policy. Donald Trump proposes a “friendly takeover” of Cuba, claiming the island is weak and that the U.S. could intervene. Calling regime change rhetoric “friendly” remains interventionism. Cubans deserve self-determination, not colonial-style diplomacy.

South Carolina’s measles outbreak is the largest in decades, & hospitalization data are incomplete. The state doesn’t require hospitals to report measles-related admissions, and only about 20 hospitalizations are recording despite 1,000 confirmed cases. Drs. say this underestimates the severity.
