Writing has been going well. "Hunger" is no longer a novella, but a novel, and "The Secrets We Keep" has been put on the back burner until further notice. I was just struggling with the story and realized that maybe it wasn't the type of story I wanted to be telling.

I recently read "The Gods Themselves" by Isaac Asimov, and now I'm reading "Revelation Space" by Alastair Reynolds and "All Systems Red" by Martha Wells. I'll get some posts up about them soon. But I'm enjoying the books so far. The Gods Themselves was... interesting.

Looking forward to getting back in the game this year. Iβve got a great outline coming together for Hunger (potentially a novel now?) and am getting a reading list together for the new year (late to the game but life you know?) if everything goes to plan, I could have a first draft in a few months!

and seeing him be unable to change the path of jihad was so cool. The fight with the Harkonnen was fun. Overall I feel like the ending worked so well with the rest of the story. I kind of want to pick up the next one, but maybe another day.

Okay, just finished Dune the other day. WOW! Thoroughly enjoyed reading this story beginning to end. The way the author handled his ability to see into multiple futures was awesome. His sister was weird and I loved it. The final battle was cool! Seeing him develop and fit into the roll they neededβ¦

The Unbound (RIP) edition of The Scottish Boy which absolutely sold so so well on word of mouth (check out its deluge of Amazon reviews) imagine what would happen if it had ~marketing~ ALSO the book has great illustrations by Trungles
My agent is @tinyfairyhunter.bsky.social so if you are an editor of an imprint thinking βI wish romantasy was queerer / more m/m and also had incredible, immersive worldbuilding that brought a medieval era viscerally to lifeβ HAVE I GOT GOOD NEWS FOR YOU, also I have plans for 2 more similar books

A screenshot of a post on X that reads:
Cuomo, talking to conservative radio host Sid Rosenberg this morning:
"God forbid, another 9/11βcan you imagine Mamdani in the seat?" Cuomo asks.
"He'd be cheering," Rosenberg says.
Cuomo paused and chuckled before saying: "That's another problem."
Just disgusting.

Looking out through a screened porch, pale early morning sky. There are overgrown hollyhocks and other bushy greenery that have lost their flowers for the year. Past them are green trees just barely starting to lose their leaves. In the foreground inside the porch is a copper fountain in the shape of a leafy vine.
Back home for two days, then off again.

It's been over a dozen years but every now and then I think about how my 11th grade English teacher told me I couldn't submit my short story for an assignment cause the story took place over like 6 months. She said short stories can only take place in a short period of time, like a few hours.

Cover art for The Carnelian King and Other Stories by Arden Powell: fantasy illustration of a red and gold dragon with a snakelike head, catfish whiskers and koi scales, looking at a knight in golden armour. The knight is riding a dappled grey horse, who is rearing to meet the dragon. They are against a dreamy, romantic background of painted trees and sky.
The Bachelorβs Valet illustrated cover art: watercolour silhouettes of two men, one fixing the otherβs tie, on a teal background in a field of tall yellow hollyhock flowers.
The Faerie Hounds of York illustrated cover art: a woodcut-style wolf rearing up against a dark green background.
The Bayou illustrated cover art: a minimalist black church surrounded by bare trees in front of a full moon or a pale sun, with a staring alligator underneath.
Hello! I'm a queer indie author of fantasy, romance, and gothic horror. I write the Flos Magicae series, my new release is a short story collection #TheCarnelianKing and I publish a sword & sorcery serial on Patreon #TheBlackKnightSaga

Friendly reminder that when folks say that you "have" to follow specific writing advice, you do not, in fact, have to.
What they are sharing is what works for them, and while it might be useful, there is no one way to get your writing out into the world. Do what works for you.

This! Itβs the journey that I love. I generally have a loose idea but I iron that out as I write. I let the characters tell me where to go, and I follow them. (Of course, the ending was the first thing I wrote for Hunger but it was more divine inspiration that anything)
