Check out the new blog I put together with @robertjscott.ca about what's going on with the Ingress NGINX Controller retirement and why you should take this opportunity to shift toward using Gateway API to manage Ingress for your Kubernetes Workloads!

Improving my newsletter's open rate the hard(er) way
Turns out just asking for help gets you help? Who knew? Here's how I increased my newsletter open rate.
In "doing things that don't scale" news, I noticed that my newsletter open rate was down over the past few months to about 40-45%, and I tried a very manual thing to increase it: I asked for help??
Anyway, it worked, and now it's in the mid-50s again β¨

My favorite new-to-me sensor so far is IMUs or Inertial Measurement Units, which are a collection of sensors including accelerometers & gyroscopes, used in lots of tech, like phones. The book mentioned that IMUs tend to accumulate errors, & how autonomous vehicles use GPS to account for this. Cool~!

So far in chapter 1, I've learned about the various types of sensors required to build an autonomous vehicles, and the various roles they play in the decision-making systems (which I'll learn more about in future chapters).

"Performance engineering isn't about making things fast, it's about making them predictably fast", using percentiles not averages, designing for tail behaviour, feedback loops, and the ability to observe. "Predictability is not the goal, stability is." βJacinta Richardson, #everythingopen #eo2026

I'm thinking of starting a software testing/QA focused newsletter! (Well, I've actually started)
QA is very broad & very deep in topics. I have a lot of different interests Iβll be writing about.
What areas of QA interest you?

A photo of my hand with long black nails holding a custom Exploding Kittens card. It's called Shuffle Double Trouble, with an illustration of me and Ian in the same clothes with similar hair. It shuffles the draw pile.

How I Made an MCP Server That Saves Me an Hour per Week
Recently, Iβve been travelling around the country to help engineers learn how to build MCP Servers...
Working on @kubernetespodcast.com is a delight, but also takes a lot of time & effort. π
This year, I've been exploring ways to speed up our publishing process- a journey which ultimately led me to build an MCP Server! Why MCP? Check out my new blog to find out! dev.to/googlecloud/...
