One of my favorite things in the whole world is when I come home after being out for a few hours and Francie is always like "Peep! Peep!" and she doesn't want food, she doesn't want toys, she leads me to the couch because she specifically needs me to lie down for a snuggle. 🥹

Yeah. what a number we've done on this beautiful species. bred to be dependent on us, friends, partners. Then just used and cut loose.
Actually in this case it was even worse. Someone was giving away puppies nearby so they dumped the dog and came home with a puppy.
One thing many people don’t realize:
(At least in CA)
A stray dog must be held for a couple weeks in case the owner comes calling
A surrendered dog can be killed immediately because the owner has relinquished their rights.
So the most wonderful dogs are often killed first for space.
Yup. Where do we even go from there.
Beautiful golden was dumped to a deadly shelter recently because it got too big.

Husband and I started an org to help surrendered dogs in CA because we couldn’t sleep. (Still can’t sleep)
Happens all the time. The situation is so woefully out of control and no one seems to really care.
If I dump an old washer at the dump I have to pay a fee, and people dump a living, breathing creature who requires food and care at the shelter for nothing.
Pledged today to help a senior dog whose owner dumped her at the shelter so he could get a puppy. We really need to start talking about the current human condition because it is bleak
Real tired of people letting their dogs make puppies then leaning on the rescue community to deal with their problem. Gross.
We should crowdfund security for this brave woman so she can speak.
