you start to ask those that "wrote" it about the design, and you realize you understand a ton of details they don't, because you actually took the time to *read* it.

how long will this last until it hits a breaking point, and neither man nor machine can work on it? im not sure, but its not forever

even if i were think about this solely in terms of output (which i think is ultimately the wrong framing)--yeah, its able to generate a slew of working(?) code extremely fast. but taking even a cursory look at that codebase you start to realize that maybe at least half of that code *does nothing*

like, i have co-workers proudly stating that they basically do no programming at this point--they just send a (probably llm-generated) spec to an llm and let it run

and i hear that and idk how else to think about it other than that it's, sad? like its just kinda depressing
