Publishers continuing to add value, part 94.
Hmmm, yes. Interesting results.
Looks like the reviews are not published though. That's quite unusual these days.
I'm not sure I agree that Claudin24 is "powerful" in the sense described in the abstract!

"Statistically significant" doesn't mean important, meaningful, or even true! & can be misleading

Optical illusion of a woman bent over some papers. Her sunglasses are pushed up and she is wearing a hair band so the top of her head looks exactly like a Muppet face
Sorry I know the world is in a terrible fix but I've been laughing at this for ten minutes now

dot plot of brain prize recipients by year, 2011–2025. each dot represents one winner, blue indicates male and red indicates female.
brain prize recipients over the years.
I remembered that I made this plot last year for a bias watch project (yes, because of that 2013–2018 period 🙃). the prize for this year will be announced later this afternoon, let's see. 🔮
Hard same but I have a travel one.
The moon going from full moon to a red moon and starting to go back to a normal full moon, then my camera battery door fell off.
Here's my first edit on the March 3rd Lunar Eclipse. 15 moon shots, 1 foreground. Taken over a 3 hourish period.

Still giggling at this hilarious video from the Norwegian Consumer Council "A Day in the Life of an Ensh*ttificator" which seems a perfect embodiment of Silicon Valley and tech generally these days

I think there is a need for a complete re-think for organoid modeling.
As long as the architecture of organoids that you produce is not directly compared to a 3D map of the organ (say, a fallopian tube) or disease to be modeled, it will be approximate.

I fucking hate proline so fucking much it's the worst amino acid it's so fucking stupid it's incapable of being fucking normal so it forms an ugly ass ring with itself with its own fucking nitrogen cuz it's a loser fucking amino acid I hate it so much I'd rather cut off my right tit than have to ever draw a mechanism with proline ever again
Remember that everyone you meet is fighting their own battle, sometimes with amino acids

The final moments of this video by Kate Crump on the Oregon coastline are sort of the crowning glory of horror. 😬
But how does this even work?
Let's talk about bivalve mobility (if we must).
This never loses its relevance

The cover went to the special section on social neuroscience, so here's our #notthecover attempt
This is one reason I recommend people to go to the Topography of Terror museum in Berlin.
The NS era stuff is appalling and overwhelming.
But what happened to the perpetrators after 1945 is mind-blowing.
(Many were immediately hired by western intelligence services, to « fight communism »)
"I was disenchanted by the Cold War itself, which was easy to be, when you saw all those Nazis wandering around in West Germany. And indeed in East Germany. What had we really fought for?"
"As if he war had never happened?"
"It felt like that."
And thank you!!!!
It’s a fantastic resource, I use it often for teaching.

This is not bad.
As my Dad often pointed out, they replaced a bridge at Amersham *overnight* in 1968 (I think).
And there's a film of it (on YouTube)!
It was winched into place by hand.
A good one for those in Buch waiting for years for the bridge to be fixed!
