The tiny Key Deer are an endangered sub-species of white-tailed deer. A large adult only reaches 30 inches (76 cm) at the shoulder. There are only about 700 left, living in the Middle Keys centered around Big Pine Key in Florida. Saw 2 today in the National Key Deer Refuge.

Yes. That's a problem. But Congress should set new rules for high level military officers, specifying that they recognize only Congress can authorize war, and that an order from any president does not override that. My thought anyway.

It gets tricky. We don't want to disrespect them, especially the rank and file. But I'm thinking any officer who accepts a position which requires Senate approval should be held to a high standard. They know this is a real war. That means there should be Congressional approval in short order.

I agree. We need to stop the constant hero worshipping of the military. They need to realize they are meant to be defenders, but not gods. Then they may feel more reluctant to follow illegal orders.

I agree. We need a strong deterrent. But we need to make it clear to our military that they are a deterrent. Military officers are not to launch a war without a vote by Congress. Officers who do otherwise should be subject to arrest.

I've been reading Guns of August. The Germans were positive WW 1 would be over in 4 months. And that they would win, of course. Wonder if Donald Trump has read that book. (That last part was a joke.)

Not Watergate level crimes. Nixon, contrary to what he said, was a crook. But Donald J Trump makes Nixon look like a Boy Scout.

Paddled around the bay today, but my kayaking muscles are out of shape, so I took a break in the cool shade of a small mangrove island.
