Cutie Honey flies a plane in episode 5 but she really should've been Hurricane Honey. Earlier in that same episode, Danbei recognizes Honey while she's in a disguise, which is arguably another error.

I find it amusing that Honey Kisaragi seemingly learns how to drive on her own around episode 9. In the first episode she could barely drive a scooter. It's implied she can only operate vehicles when she's Hurricane Honey.

This is the type of stuff I want to see Honey doing.

One of the most famous motherly voices in the industry, playing roles ranging from Maetel, Reika Ryuzaki, Nodoka Saotome, Kamaria Ray, and countless others. May she rest in peace.

I still blame Anno's changes introduced in the 2004 movie/Re: Cutie Honey for stuff like this.

You know, I *really* hope this version doesn't have a long lasting effect on the future of Cutie Honey.

This fucking sends me because the person didn’t even say anything bad! Just that the new dub didn’t click for them. People have said farrrrr worse things about many things about the old dub. Linda *still* gets flack for a role she took over 20 years ago.

Like most of the international dubs changed their names! Spanish, Swedish, Italian, South Korean, etc etc

Which is a little infuriating because it’s like, oh, you CAN properly translate the show while keeping it in the overall style you’ve established!

And despite the fact they rewrite so much, they *still* manage to make silly continuity mistakes and errors. Also, there are a few episodes that are noticeably more faithful than the rest, namely the episode where Neflite dies.

BTW I’m about halfway done with the first season of the DIC dub. Honestly, it’s worst offense is just changing stuff “just cause.” There actually isn’t a lot of censorship, it’s mostly stuff like “how about we slow down this scene? Oh wait, let’s rearrange these shots.“

I’m pretty neutral. I like the old dub but I fully admit how deeply flawed it is. But I feel like I can be more forgiving considering all the circumstances. I’m not a fan of the Viz dub but I’m glad it exists. I guess I’m just that person who can enjoy multiple versions of a series!

SMF is a whole other beast. I just feel like if you are presenting yourself as the face of an American Sailor Moon network, you probably shouldn’t shame fans who might like the old dub. (I know that’s not the case here but it’s a common theme with her)

The whole “I was lied to, I wanted the truth” is so just dramatic, like the Japanese track was right there girl. 😂

So, she has a weird vendetta against the old dub and always makes a big deal about evil and awful it is. Playbill did some cute graphics for the musical that referenced the old dub and she went on a rampage about how “awful it was.” She’s also giving people shit for liking it.

It’s like Miyazaki fans bitching about Warriors of the Wind in 2026 lol

She’s entitled to hate the old dub but like, girl, it hasn’t been available in the US for 20 years now. Why are we still talking about it?
