Cannot tell you how depressing it is to read that people are simply refusing to read nonfiction after you’ve worked really hard to write a nonfiction book you believe in, in case anyone is wondering why I’m posting so much about my book which comes out in a few weeks #BookSky

Very true. I've learned I should share and even submit pieces that I'm not 100% about because I know that I am not always the best judge of my work.

Image of 9 books covers for books by Helen Whistberry: Roadkill, shows a highway with animal skeletons on it; The Final Voyage of Avery Mothmere, has a black cat playing with an old-fashioned sailing ship; When Your Heart is a Broken Thing, has a white rabbit crying red tears and a red rabbit with skeleton exposed crying blue tears; Once Upon a Wave of Witches, with co-author Eli Belt, has a green kraken tentacle sweeping through turbulent blue waves; The Tail of Nightshade, has a gray mouse among purple nightshade blooms; The Melody of Trees, has a red fox among twining tree branches; The Weird Sisters, has a full moon behind tombstones with a hand visible lying on the ground; The Avenging Angel, has a full moon behind a mansion; The Ghostly Groom, has a full moon behind a tombstone with a black bird on top of it.
World Book Day? I have books, though I don't talk about them as much as I should which means nobody buys them, but if you're into classic mysteries or dark fantasy or hopeful horror or fractured folk tales and enjoy illustrated books, I got 'em!

I like to write in order of urgency- the scene that most needs to be written or I'm most clear on.
I also tend to move scenes around, so sometimes what seemed sequential in the first draft was out of order the whole time.
That said, sequential does make revision easier.

The Hectic Love Lives of the Mythical
Medusa, a vampire, a werewolf, a demon, a faerie and a mermaid walk into a bar...wait...that’s not the start of a joke! This queer bunch is actually part of awesome tales about their chaotic love live...
So um, we know everything is horrifying right now but we are trying to put a comics anthology of queer romance stories out in the world & we could use your help to get it funded 👉👈
It has some amazing creators involved too so check it out if you feel like it💖

A Nationwide Book Ban Bill Has Been Introduced in the House of Representatives
Hours after the State of the Union address, House republicans introduced legislation banning LGBTQ+ books from public schools nationwide.
Following the lies and hatred targeting trans folks during the State of the Union Address, numerous republican House representatives introduced a bill that would create A NATIONWIDE BOOK BAN.
Here's what it is and what to do: bookriot.com/hr7661-book-...

A digital donation flyer titled "Support Malik" with the subtitle "Scan to donate via Venmo or Cash App". The background is a vibrant blue, pink, and purple gradient with a bokeh light effect and a thin gold border. In the center are two prominently displayed QR codes:
- On the left, a blue Venmo card with a QR code featuring a small profile picture of Malik in the center, and the text "venmo: @tamilove21".
- On the right, a bright green Cash App card with a QR code featuring the green Cash App dollar sign logo in the center, and the text "Cash App: $tamilove21".
At the bottom center of the graphic is the Bluesky handle "maliktunde.bsky.social".
URGENT HOMELESSNESS
I'm out. On the curb with my bags. It’s freezing and the hostility in this town is real. If you can help with a motel just for tonight so I can figure out my next move, please. Every dollar is life-saving right now.

Slide 1: a blue graphic with an outline of the United States. Red and white text reads: Call.
National Book Banning Bill Proposed in US House of Reps. Tell your rep: Vote no on H.R. 7661.
Slide 2: a blue and red graphic with white text that reads: House Republicans have introduced a
bill to effectively grant the federal government decision-making power over what books make it
into the library. Misleadingly called the "Stop the Sexualization of Children Act,
" H.R. 7661 is a
national-level book banning bill that would ban any book that, according to the bill's language,
"(ii) involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism.
" This means any book about a trans person
or the trans experience would be banned from every public school in the United States.
Slide 3: a blue and red graphic with white text that reads: The bill has been referred to the
House Committee on Education and Workforce. If you are represented by one of the members
of this committee listed below, they need to hear from you.
Rep. Kevin Kiley, California (CA-3) (Chair) - entering vulnerable election cycle
Rep. Mary E. Miller, Illinois (Vice Chair)
Rep. Glenn "GT" Thompson, Pennsylvania
Rep. Burgess Owens, Utah
Rep. Michael A. Rulli, Ohio
Rep. James C. Moylan, Guam - entering vulnerable election cycle
Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, Pennsylvania - entering vulnerable election cycle
Rep. Mark Harris, North Carolina
Rep. Mark B. Messmer, Indiana
Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, Oregon, Ranking Member
Rep. Jahana Hayes, Connecticut
Rep. Summer L. Lee, Pennsylvania
Rep. John W. Mannion, New York
Rep. Frederica S. Wilson, Florida
Rep. Alma S. Adams, North Carolina
Rep. Adelita Grijalva, Arizona
Slide 4: a blue graphic with red and white text that reads: If you are represented by the
congresspeople listed above: Call your reps. Tell them they must oppose this bill at every turn. It
is egregiously unconstitutional, targets ideas based on ideological disapproval, and misleads
parents and the public about the content of children's books. It does nothing to protect kids and
will badly harm education. It will tie school material funding into knots and hurt anyone who is a
library materials vendor, regardless of content. If you are a bookseller, librarian, or author, tell
them your livelihood depends on the next generation of readers.
Urgent message from @authorsabb.bsky.social. Call your reps to voice your opposition to the proposed nationwide book banning bill H.R. 7661.

Used to have a DVD player that would "fix" the aspect ratio on old movies by squishing it, so every actor became shorter and squatter. Never figured out how to turn off that "feature."
