First web page in 1996, written in DOS Edit because notepad couldn't handle it.
something that could be so much more. Imagine sales high enough that creators (and publisher staff) aren't subsisting on poverty wages. This could happen and it could last for a long time. That's not happening chasing the speculator market for a few years of high sales before the bubble pops.
bullshit so many people into buying books with the implication they'll be more valuable down the line - which we already know will not be true 99% of the time. It would be phenomenally stupid to kneecap our industry by pivoting to the speculator market right when we are at the beginning of
and Dog Man is STILL an insanely popular book series today. The growth we are experiencing right now may just be the starting tip of many years of year over year double digit growth in sales. We don't yet know how high this ceiling will be. The speculation market has a definite ceiling. You can only
were very damaging mistakes made in the past? It feels like people now have dollar signs in their eyes and are forgetting why the speculation market was bad. The market is doing really, really well right now with a huge potential of growth. The Dogman/YA generation is entering comic shops,
retailers are at or very near retirement age. Some may want to make a last burst of $$$ and then retire when (or just before) the speculation bubble pops. We've got a lot of new, younger fans who are reading comics because they like comics. Can this industry please not fuck it up by repeating what
I know people think "oh we we won't make that mistake again" but I have my doubts. There is all new management at the major publishers and we also have a lot of new retailers. These newer people in the industry might go down this path and some older retailers might too. Plenty of the older
takes a nose dive. That marketing also tells the general public that comics are not a thing you read and enjoy, it's a collectible like baseball cards. If you don't want to buy collectibles, you don't buy comics. It took many years for the industry to overcome that impression of comics.

My issue with the speculator market is that publishers WILL start marketing to them once they see there is money to be made there. Suddenly it's not buy this comic because it's entertaining, it's buy this Special Issue Collector's Item! When that starts happening the quality of the books

The real American influence is those super long title names.
Yup, if you look up the other kid you'll see he had a lot of success in film too.
One grandfather was a farmer, the other - I think - fixed electronic devices.
Yeah, "Better align" usually means "we want to do things this way and we're getting rid of the people who tell us that is a bad idea."
Because ego's are more important than money.
Yeah, tough way to end, but he did sell the company and likely got $$$ for it and likely got a golden parachute on the way out.
While I doubt this is how he wanted to it to end, he'll be okay.
Hopefully the Interim CEO puts somebody who knows what they're doing in charge and steps off.
I hope creators can get the rights to their work back if the publisher shuts down, or just engages in really crappy behaviour.
I keep feeling it's a matter of time before I switch to a Linux based OS. Maybe Windows 12 will be the time.
I'm willing to bet money he doesn't flush when he's done either, or clean up.
Then a new generation wanted new music and I recall songs like Outkast Hey Ya! that removed the typical rock guitar sound taking off and lots of other music following that style. 2/2
What I recall from the 90s was a flood of greatest hits CD's of like every rock singer/band that existed and had some success, making it difficult for new acts to catch on because they were competing with the best of the best. Radio stations also moved to more of a classic hits format. 1/2
Yeah, the audio is usually a mess and it distracts much of the floor.
Simon looked pretty pissed having to make that Iran video. He said in another video he's on vacation now, but it's not much of a vacation.
I also hope the NFB starts heavily investing in Canadian films soon. With all the US media consolidation into Goebbels wannabes, I think we're really going to need films shows that reflect our values (and the values of a lot of Americans too).

Which is why they LOVE him and will follow him no matter what crimes he commits or has already committed.
A childhood friend and classmate had the same name.
This worked for Brexit. People are pissed about underfunded health care (done purposely by both Conservatives and Liberals)? Blame immigrants. If we got rid of them, there would be more resources for you.
It worked for housing, sadly.
Yeah, I've also had anxiety dreams where I was back doing the type of work I was no longer doing. At the time I was working construction and it was a call centre dream.
A few years later though I would be back working at a Call Centre.
He also did a comic book with Christopher Priest and Renae Geerlings to fight sex trafficking.
