Painting of a Fluminense swallowtail using acrylic ink. The butterfly is mostly black, the body, outer and inner parts of the wings are black or dark grey, but the middle part of the upper wings are white and the middle part of the lower wings are both red and white. The background is made using red, white and pink ink on a wet surface, giving it a watercolour look. The butterfly is painted in a realistic and detailed style.

The bill from the Tax-man got a bit steep this year, so I would love it if someone who might have been deciding to get som of my art, would decide to to so...

Rhizocarpon sp #lichen in the process of “taking over” another species of crustose lichen. This Rhizocarpon is the yellow-green colour. The species it is taking over is grey…see top, left of pic. A lichenologist recently explained that several species of Rhizocarpon do this.

kind of a disappointing read (her answers, not the article itself). it feels like the wrong lessons were learned: "spend more time campaigning!" instead of "take a harder left stance"

Black and white art. a bunch of small birds noisily chasing after a big eagle which is rushing away from them down towards the bottom of the page. This is bird mobbing: the behavior where small prey Birds en masse attack a predator like a hawk or an eagle. By rushing at the predator making lots of noise they can often scare the predator away and occasionally kill it. see the link in the next post.
