π I think Iβve probably described it wrong maybe more like a wheelbarrow wheel lol it sounds deeper than a great tit. Iβll have to share the recording somehow. Itβs not picked up by Merlin

If you haven't cut back dead stems yet, this is probably the weekend to do it. Link below to follow what I do with leaving dead stems on the ground.
Thanks Danny. It is a game changer, simple but I agree it makes total sense.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I think it might have been a jay song but I was far enough away to not hear the croaky start. It was a bit like a deflating honk if that makes sense. Iβve listened to the suggestions and they do sound like bike wheels, but other bike wheels π
Does anyone know what bird makes a call like a squeaky bike wheel? My app is saying jackdaw but I donβt think thatβs right
In The Guardian Saturday magazine, a feature from me to kickstart your spring with my 10 easiest crops for the highest yields. I canβt pretend the world is in a good place at the moment, but growing your own food is always worthwhile.
You can do it π always worth trying at least twice
Actually, I think the wow for me comes from colour, often with tall vertical plants that stand out creating contrast and random repetition
Iβm thinking βthere must be somethingβ as Iβve had wow moments but nothing comes to mind that is that kind of wow for conservation grassland. Iβll keep thinking. In our garden thereβs something that has the potential long term. Iβll message you.

This is all just gardening - thank you sunny weather
Just moved a little toad off our drive - poor little thing was frozen in front of our car thinking it was camouflaged but would just get run over. Toads are actually really cute, they get a bad rep.
thank you :)
Penstemon grown from dust size seeds in multipurpose peat free compost last spring. Sat in these pots for a year, very healthy. Didnβt even fertilise. Peat free compost is amazing!
Gardeners in the Mist
I think they might have an adaptation to that happening, maybe from grazing?

First bees today in our garden, all over the snowdrops - I've read in the past snowdrops aren't used but that's like because the people were looking at them on gloomy days. In the sunshine pollinators are all over them.

βmany of the 2,500 [moth] species in the UK are at risk, with numbers having fallen by 33% since the 1960s. This is due to factors including habitat loss, climate breakdown and pollution.β www.theguardian.com/environment/...
βStarmer is no Churchillβ somehow puts Starmer in a much stronger light to me - I guess by Trump saying who he thinks Starmer isnβt, it starts to show the world who our Prime Minister is. Someone who stands up against illegal, unplanned warfare that drags the world and British people into danger.
I hope people see this - Iβm frustrated with Starmer on multiple things but on this he has it spot on and itβs good to see someone with a backbone standing up to Trump thinking he can simply drag our countries into war without any notice whatsoever.
Ooh, I can do this one unlike the new year hunt! (No flowers here on new year π)
