added a fighting game style input display to Canon!!
I am very happy with how it turned out :)
implemented one of the games main combat gimmicks today: Normals!
you have three seconds to mash out as many normals as you can for a high combo, but the heavier the input the more of your frames it eats up.
not very impressive considering i was just 90% following a tutorial, but i DO now have 90% of an RPG combat system :)
yo i got back into working on my previous scrapped-ish rpg project "Canon". NEWT is still gonna continue getting developed, it just wont be my ONLY focus
oh ALSO i made it so you can no longer get a soda you already have (until you run out of options but thats just to prevent the game from crashing (the final game will have a level cap of ~10, and have like 20ish sodas so it wont be a problem (third parenthetical just to prove I can)))
as of today every single UI element should be controller accessible :)
overhauled the soda screen entirely (it was previously drawing in the room instead of to the GUI lmao) and fixed the "Are You Sure?" screen to work at any resolution and with more than just the mouse.
it will be changed eventually, just not now
also holy CRAP i need to redo the menu system lol, it is just NOT flexible at ALL.
I kinda just made it based on a SaraJS tutorial where she only ever uses it to load into a room, so fitting stuff like tool tips and the rebind menu and everything is just such an insane nightmare
Controller is not technically supported for every single gameplay instance, but this will be changed by the time the next build releases. Currently theres just no way to select a soda from the machine on gamepad but thats it afaik
Good new(t)s! the next release of NEWT will have greatly improved controller support!
Controller support was already in the game but the default bindings were weird and there was no way to change them, both of which change now!!!
