"glad im being responsible about microplastics for shaving fur by having bought a good quality respirator" i think to myself as i microwave soup in a plastic deli meat container

leg 1.0 (starting from zero w/ the proper lower body reference now) is done and ready to print, using IDEX to do the main print in TPU and supports in PLA
Seemingly overkill printer no longer seems so overkill
Right now is such a lovely time of day
when the sun is at just the right spot in the sky to blind me when I look out my bedroom window β¨
turned him into that one image
#furryart
the scanner does not really appear to like arms due to lack of defining geometry in the middle, so I may end up still making a DTD for the upper body
that being said, I've got a scan of my lower body to work with so i can start designing the legs and tail
i miss friendslop games.
Attempt number 2 with the 3D scanner, getting better at it, but I think my bedroom is a terrible environment, lighting-wise.
Also decided I'm going to forego the DTD entirely and just get a scan of my body. Forgot you can stitch multiple scans together, so it doesn't really matter if I move a bit.
printer some more wire clips for the 3030 and now the printer is 100% complete (only took 3 months π)
getting into more advanced testing now, gonna do benchies in IDEX mirror and copy mode, and then try a bi-material print
so far so good for the mirror print, and W that Orca supports it off rip
addendum:
+ watching youtube in bed on my laptop w/ my space heater blasting
B -> A-
-- rating of today --
+ air filter will be complete by the time i go to bed (still printing the last part rn)
+ gates deck (MTG) has been deemed bracket 4 by The People Who Know Thingsβ’οΈ (it beat eldrazi tonight)
- probably got the flu (sore throat, aches, chills) but currently mostly fine
rank: B
unstoppable "its gonna be covered by the blower" vs immovable "holy fuck thats ugly"
chamber filter worksπ
generating a new compensation mesh for 105C (Z offsets accounting for thermal expansion) then gonna start tuning the filament profile properly and Then I can finally make the permanent housing for the filter and THEN uhhhhhh idk we'll see I guess
filter is now plugged in and I flashed the newest version of RatOS to the Raspberry Pi while I had access to that as well (major reworks meant I couldn't update from the version I had). Going through all the initial config stuff rn, then we are back in business and ready to start with ASA
lol ty
seriously, it is SO FUCKING LOUD
but that overhang isπβ¨
and if anyone's interested, at least specifically Inland TPU, printing it hot as fuck (250C), slow as fuck (15 mm/s, 10 for bridges) with the part fan JET ENGINE BLASTING, it's really really clean.
WOW Orca Slicer is so much better than Prusa Slicer.
A few temp towers and minor tweaks to Orca's generic/base profiles and my PETG and TPU is looking SO MUCH BETTER
TPU is a bit annoying because the part fan is constantly at 100%, and it's a 12V 40mm server fan, but it's SO CLEAN NOW
3D scanner arrived. definitely gonna have a bit of a learning curve (still a couple of yucky artifacts from merging the scans I got of this thingy they provide), but not too bad for half an hour, I'd say.
Actually kinda impressed given the experience I've had w/ Creality products in the past
chud fucked up first-layer vs the chemical that kills you
idk why first layer went so close, thermal expansion shoulda been mostly done when i started the print and it did all the calibration stuff, still took a bit to clean with MEK and a razor blade
(printing temporary PETG air filter housing)
wait material progression works in real life how it does in minecraft I make the thing with PETG first and then use that for the ASA
Catch 22 of "To print the printer's chamber filter housing, you should use ABS/ASA. To print ABS/ASA, you should have a chamber filter."
Gonna tape the enclosure, wear a respirator and vent the shit outta my basement with a shop fan, surely a couple of prints won't give me cancer riiight?
the machine didn't come with instructions i dont know if it can be reversed
@galadino.bsky.social did NOT admit that they were cute, so they have been cubed. Let this serve as a warning.
was more excited waking up to the news this morning that the tariffs have been deemed unconstitutional by the supreme court than I have been on christmas morning for probably like 5 years
at least that's got some whimsy to it. we only ever got evacuated for boring stuff like fires and bomb threats
also going to hold off on this for now, I think, as I've got the idea that I can try to get a 3D scan of my DTD when I make that and import that directly into blender to use as a base
can't sleep and I have to be up in 4 hours i hate it here
ngl, very similar to how I code. make some progress, take a step back and ask "has this helped or has this made it worse?" and try to analyze the smaller parts and figure out why. mirroring the canvas has helped improve my art a ton recently, but i've just been an idiot not doing that π
