Cryosophila spp. are famous for their root-spines. These adventitious roots (sometimes branched) emerge from the trunk & then become hard & sharp. They are typical of this genus but very rare elsewhere in the plant kingdom. This is C. stauracantha. #Arecaceae #palms #botany 🌱🧪🌾
