Do you use shadcn components in your Astro projects?
If so, why?
Genuinely curious
Ever created a sweet new component, only to test it in Safari and everything breaks?
Same.
That's why I created a ton of free components for your Astro projects.
Complete with animations, accessibility, and easily customizable.
npx starwind@latest init
Absolutely loved this effect by jh3yy, so I added it as a free block in Starwind Pro
Now you can enjoy it as a native Astro effect and section
Its crazy to me that people will continuously re-invent complex UI components
Waste tons of tokens figuring out why it doesnt work in Safari, or making it accessible
When you can just use pre-made open source components that have already figured this out
Dynamic viewport awareness in action: popovers automatically reposition to remain visible as the window size changes
Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Antigravity, Windsurf...
Developers, what's your go-to AI coding tool right now??
99% of the time, variable fonts are the correct answer.
The other 1%? Rethink your font choices.
If this sounds like you, give Starwind UI a try: npx starwind@latest init
I make shadcn/ui-like components for Astro.
If you build websites with Astro, this helps because now you have native animated and accessible components.
I built this after seeing so many people feel the need to bring React into their Astro projects, boating their JS bundle and slowing their sites.
I hate to tell you this, but if you're using React components in your Astro projects, you're doing it wrong.
Instead, you should be using open source Astro native components.
Why?
Far less JS, patterns you already know from shadcn/ui, and it works perfectly with Astro features.
Starwind UI 🌟
You don't need a $200/mo "agent swarm" setup to build a profitable business.
I love that people are pushing the boundaries of AI loops, but it isn't a requirement for success.
Standard AI coding tools are more than enough to help you ship and make thousands a month.
Absolutely nothing better than waking up to product purchase notifications with this out the window
Too many people talk about AI but ship nothing. What are you shipping me with AI?
Me - I've been hard at work perfecting tons of new blocks for Starwind Pro. Plus adding new docs, a theme designer, and better theme previews
Ha! Perfect
Also, Severance reference?
I'm a simple man. I see a pub and I upvote
Oo first I'm hearing of this, sounds cool. Thanks for sharing
Ah yes, IT!
Before we had automated runescape farmers
Now we have automated reputation farmers
I'm sure some of it will be great, but I'm also sure it will be abused with subtle vulnerabilities implanted into various common libraries
Yeah at this part its hard to imagine going back to the stone age of *manually* typing all your code
This... is your brain on drugs
That's a great idea
Only a problem when you're library becomes super popular
Maybe one day I'll have that problem! Starwind UI has been very manageable so far
Start using with with Starwind UI and see real results: starwind.dev
Most MCP servers are hot garbage
They just pollute your context with unnecessary info, and provide very little value on their own
I created the Starwind MCP to be better. Actually useful to search available blocks, generate install commands, get up-to-date docs, and more. 👇
500 stars on Starwind UI overnight. I’m honestly speechless.
I built this because I wanted the "shadcn/ui experience" specifically optimized for @astro.build . Seeing the community rally behind it is incredible.
Huge thank you to everyone. We’re just getting started.
"npx starwind@latest init"
Astro docs are some of the best! If you're looking for a UI library to use with Astro like shadcn/ui, give Starwind UI a go 😀
Nicely done! Cool to see what different companies are using for their skills
It’s time for a re-introduction.
With the rise of AI spam and anonymous bots, I’ve decided to be less anon. I want to build in the open as a real person.
My name is Branden.
I’m still the same massive Astro nerd you’ve been following. I'm just putting a face to the code.
Keep building.
Agree. I've switched to building Starwind UI / Pro for both humans and agents. The CLI and MCP allow for retrieval of up-to-date docs, install commands, and search of available blocks.
The search feature in particular is really powerful for agents, where you can build whole pages in seconds.
