The billionaire Rick Jackson is running for Georgia Governor and has been flooding the airwaves with heavily pro-Trump attack ads. At one point, he shows Trump and narrates “We’ve seen what happens when an outsider comes in and shakes things up.” For the life of me, can’t see how this works for him.

For people who still care about this sort of thing, here's James Madison writing from 1793 (6 years after the delegates in Philadelphia signed the Constitution) about why the power to make war was vested in the legislature.

Just luck today. WordleBot said the final word was the only choice left after my initial play, but I almost played something else that they totally would have accepted and then shamed me afterwards.

This is exactly what I was thinking, the very first thing that came to mind. And it would not shock me at all to learn that it was their model all along.

When he had his stroke, Fox News called him crazy 24/7. When he first started tickling Republican balls, Fox immediately started treating him like a Very Serious Person. He couldn’t get enough of that, and he still can’t.

I know it’s petty, but the ragged, cut-up sweatshirt/hoodie thing on game day was reason enough for me to dislike Belichick. NFL edgelord material.

Some of the best memories during my “lost years” were situations I found myself in that were similar to this. There was an odd comfort found in dive bars in strange cities, surrounded by strangers who would probably understand parts of your story better than friends and family.

Honestly, it seems like it just requires a preponderance of good people to be effective. I don’t think the forefathers ever expected the sheer volume of morally bereft people being in any one Congress or administration. Or Judiciary.

Americans Are the Ones Paying for Tariffs, Study Finds
New research contradicts President Trump’s claim that foreigners are footing the bill.
New study affirms what all other studies show. Importers and consumers, not foreign exporters bore the brunt of tariffs.
Spike in uncertainty in April 2025 during the tariff tantrum showed up as paralysis in hiring much of the year since then - a little more than 84% of all jobs for 2025

Data disruptions. The Bureau of Labor Statistics is down ~ 30% on staffing incl leadership roles. That has left them scrambled post shutdown to try to do more w/less, inc key regional survey offices closed. That has meant that tough decisions on filling gaps in the data had to be made.

My 40th reunion will be in 2027. I won’t be there, just as I’ve never been to any of the others. “Friends” in grade school, good folks for sure, were the best available options among those I was forced to be around. True friends made as an adult are the cherished ones, in my opinion

Ticketing to big events in general is a good example. The VIP packages and tiered pricing to any major concert cause a lot of heartburn. The biggest fans used to be front row because they camped out for tickets. Now, it’s the wealthy just wanting to be seen.
