A ridge of high pressure building in from the west will lead to a frost Tuesday-Wednesday, particularly in rural areas, with night time temperatures dropping close to or below freezing (0°C to -3°C). However, this is short lived with temperatures recovering and unsettled weather returning.
We had the Dream Team assembled: Weak La Niña, Easterly QBO, and a strong W Pac MJO. It looked perfect... until that wave reflection decided to crash the party. Weather drivers continue fighting it out for December and beyond.

Winter arrives this weekend with temperatures going from double digits to single figures. A balmy 18.3°C at Heathrow on the 13th Nov. Daytime temps around 2-7°C by Monday. But, will it snow? Highly likely with some elevation #uksnow

The GFS overnight run (00z) has thrown a spanner in the works with a few more members going milder.
Two scenarios:
1⃣ Atlantic-Greenland ridge. Cold and wintry.
2⃣ Low cutting in, wintry in the north.
The less cold option normally wins out but there's still hope ^Dan
The first notable cold spell of the season is likely to arrive through the weekend & into early next week.
Widespread frosts are likely and yes, it seems possible that the "s" word might be mentioned too but exact details remain uncertain.
5% chance November 2024 to January 2025 will be cold but interestingly this does not preclude cold and wintry spells. It's important to remember these outlooks are updated often #UKWeather

Rain will clear southeastwards this evening. Turning colder overnight with showers in north and west, a patchy ground frost come morning. Overall cold weekend coming up, bright and breezy!
The temp is set to tumble this weekend as our first northerly plunge of the Autumn sets in. But not before a bit of rain into Friday. Rest of the weekend looks to be chillier/brighter. Snow on the Scottish highlands, perhaps for the fells in the Lake District too. Max 9°C later in the period.
The last remaining snow patch in Scotland is just managing to stay intact on Aonach Beag. And as Jeam Howe says on Facebook “No good satellite images until back in early September. You can see it as a little dot in Planet 3m imagery from 05/09/2023 which is pretty cool!”
