what kind of issues are there with code sharing?

like... why solve the problems that should not exist at all?

i spent the last five days setting up a monorepo that shares code between nextjs and react native app and it's still barely working. Every relatively bit team project i know alway have an extra full time end working on fixing infra/perf devx/etc

sharing code is definitely a plus. but i would honestly rather deal with the overhead of different languages in exchange for default perf/safety/mental health

yeahh... but still i’ll take it over JS for backends any time!

I went back to JS a few months ago because i wanted to be able to make products e2e and i have never been so burned out as an engineer.

People who used Rust/Swift/Go/OCaml and similar and then switched to writing JavaScript/Typescript. How do you endure the pain and find patience?
