thank you!
I'm going to start announcing things related to node-postgres here instead of on twitter/x. I will potentially post more about node-postgres in general here but at least the major announcements should all be here, not there. Sunsetting the x account.
Hoppers is extremely great. I almost never get out to kids movies in theaters but I had a good feeling about this one and it delivered big time
you are thinking very similarly to us
short version is weβve deliberately constrained it here in ways that we realized might not make sense
Cisco then Google in two days. BIG MO.
just finished the first draft of all the exercises for the workshops Iβll be running at the atmosphere conference in a few weeks if anyone wants a sneak preview! slides are not public yet but some very fun hands on projects here imo (many taken straight from our new docs!) github.com/bluesky-soci...
I was really impressed with it! the sleep no more guy directed it iirc and there are some incredible moments
legacy issue actually, just a confusing one (different teams had different expectations for the boundaries here)
A screenshot of the Bluesky app demonstrating how you can now tap the "Translate" button to translate a post without leaving the app.
v1.118 rolls out today!
New in this update: You can now translate posts without leaving the app.
Simply tap "translate" on mobile and your phone's built-in translation takes it from there.
yo since the announcement @tangled.org timeline is live af
Welcome to Bluesky's brand-new head of communications,
@joshpetri.bsky.team! He arrived last week, and we're thrilled to have him here
honestly I try not to respond to all the criticism but this is the funniest thing I've read all morning, thank you. I will try to do better but not so much better that I don't get to read stuff as evocative as this.
We will be giving a lightning talk at ATmosphere 2026! Come along to hear @makeworld.space and @udit.bsky.social talk about how provenance tools can be used by communities to restore transparency in a world of AI-generated feeds.
Needless to say itβs a very fraught space and youβll no doubt catch strays if you attempt it; but really do think about what you can do with the data thatβs already there
the same Dave Buchanan who turned down the Mets?
if you wanted to do this, I would definitely recommend thinking of it as a tool youβd be 100% responsible for and associated with, using on-protocol data. that will frame the scope
thatβs a great question! I think there would be a lot of tricky questions to sort out around authority, and you would only be able to work with the data already on the protocol (so you wouldnβt have access to eg takedown reasons) but Iβm always encouraged to see how people respond to new tools.
honestly I thought it was pretty proactive dev commsβ framing why the uncertainty itself is the issue with a footgun like this, maybe even humanizing the stakesβ but definitely canβt win them all! apologies to everyone who is not feeling great about 2026βs baseline level of conspiracy fatigue.
itβs insane I hadnβt heard of it until yesterday and itβs like the best thing I couldβve asked for
the Terry Gross bit in the new Chris Fleming special is the funniest thing I can remember
Iβm honestly super impressed with our great T&S teams and they can only improve! this particular weirdness seems to have been caused by an internal miscommunication a while back
Iβm taking the L here, just having fun with it π
our userbase is already conspiracy brained enough about our rationale for suspensions without us making it this easy for them to accidentally entrap themselves π€
For You, For Everyone: we're thrilled to announce that our feed personalization engine is now live β and fully open source. Read our @leaflet.pub announcement below, or follow the π§΅:
Hey devs! Heads up, we're planning on making some changes to our image CDN tomorrow.
- Images will be served as WebP by default
- The URL format you get from the Bluesky API will change a little
You can look forward to an announcement about image quality soon π
PSA: with ordered lists we've hit parity with core Markdown!*
Paragraphs, h1βh3, dividers, code blocks, link blocks, images, block quotes, ordered & unordered lists, inline code & links, bold & italicβ¦
(*Main one 'missing' is arbitrary HTMLβ¦okay technically h4βh6 too but no one asks about those)
Yupβ this is a silly edge case we created because of requirements at the T&S level and at the protocol level, which we obviously need to solve at the app level by making this impossible to do unintentionally. Sorry for the unforced error here! Will be fixed soon.
