So unless anything untoward happens I'll be on a stage in a barn in Petaluma in late April talking about errors and why they're like that.
Looking forward to @northbaypython.org!

Excerpt from the linked book in the quote tweet shows the start of an article titled "What do I say next?". It begins "You walk up to a character in a game. You press the interact button. What happens next? For a linear game, the answer's easy: the next thing that the writer wrote. But if your game has any dynamic elements, a world state that changes, choices the player's made, relationships they've built, you've wandered into saliency territory. And saliency, it turns out, is fiddly as hell. Emily Short coined the term "salience-based narrative" to describe systems that pick content from a pool based on what's most applicable right now. Unlike branching narrative, where choices lead down predetermined paths, saliency systems look at the current world state and grab the best fit from whatever's available."
...and the second is by our Technologies Lead @desplesda.net about concepts behind dynamic dialogue systems that respond to world and player state!
We've got TWO articles in this fantastic compendium of knowledge. The first of which is by our Creative Director @hey.paris on why he thinks making tools is The Best Job in Games...
What I love about this is it exists not only as a useful resource written by a slew of stupidly smart people but it started due to someone saying something incredibly stupid online.
So stupid it causes a book to be made in retaliation.
That alone should get you to buy it.
Was absolutely thrilled to be part of this! Really proud of my chapter. Check it out!

Metacritic has sent a reminder email to all games site editors/publishers which is pretty strong, and great:
I feel like younger people don't realize that the internet wasn't always optimized solely to make you as angry and miserable as possible, and people are having a lot of nostalgia for 2000s internet vibes now because it wasn't like that back then

Considering going to #Godotcon in Amsterdam in April. Would folks be interested in Yarn Spinner content and chats?
If you have the means, please donate to the Trans Continental Pipeline right now. They are a Colorado based org that helps trans people relocate and they are overwhelmed with requests. Colorado borders Kansas, and TCP has the infrastructure to help get people out.

I have done a lot of programming lately. It's fun.

Do those guys have a convention? An annual meeting?
