I wonder if this is because an A380 at T5 takes up 2-3 gates when itβs parked at the terminal. M
Or was that fixed? π€

Iβm sure we willβ¦ we plan on self connecting with them, and know they dropped more in STL too that is perfect for us. The possibilities here are interesting.
I also have some off the wall things we are modeling too.
CVGs on the list⦠one mind boggling one is STL. WN had it up until 2019ish on a 1x daily 73G. Had 74% LF and healthy O/D and some connecting⦠but the problem was⦠it only flew once a day. All of our markets need a morning and night bank.
That is 100% on the list. Believe it or not. Well. Maybe this wonβt surprise you. GRR-CMH is the hot OH market too.
TVC has a crap ton of weird season demand I havenβt even gotten into. We canβt tap into that yet until the gate expansion happens or I take the off peak slots during peak szn
Like I said. There is a lot more to this answer and I wrote five posts on it. Bahah.
airline and their strategy with ancillary businesses that was debt laiden on the poor advice of McKinsey? Thatβs our long term goal- out of necessity, and those become income streams for our conglomerate. We just donβt want to load up any debt like Swissair, we plan on doing it the right way.
Oh you know what. I forgot to add on an answer here, as my coffee finally hit.
The airline is just the beginning for us. We actually, believe it or not, have to establish ancillary biz to support our ops. First one is a catering biz, and GRR has been begging for thatβ¦ soβ¦ remember a certain π¨π
There is much much more to that answer that I donβt have enough characters for in this short response Itβs looking at every little part of an airline and bloat, inefficiency, loss of time, etc β¦ all levers to increase operating net margins slightly up more & more. Like I said, needs its own post.
Heh. I have always loved that quote.
I am going to write a whole post on this one. Short version? Many of us are sick of hub connects or driving from our area because no alternatives exist/we have to. And that story repeats itself throughout our Great Lakes market, and then elsewhere. However..
You hit it on the head. Many of these routes were actually outside of hub/spoke too, and our aircraft choice is exactly that- and network flexibility as there is a market I havenβt disclosed yet that is uber profitable. The other part is leanness, efficiency & software. More to comeβ¦
A lot of my post are on the spicer side, but will be fun, will share as much as I can. Hereβs our website, itβs a work in progress and likely to swap to a brand new one soon (pardon the dust):
asteriaair.com
Brief intro about me for friends & newcomers:
- Iβm Ross π

- Previously worked as a network planning consultant, 8+ years in Salesforce, bootstrapped a company to seven figures
I think itβs under T1. That is the rumor, was part of the package.
I wonder if his ORD parking space is still there
Someone literally sent me one of your posts today and I thought the same thing. And since Iβve been talking more about the airline startup journeyβ¦ I thought it would be time to hop over here and cross post :) I do the same with LinkedIn too, working on getting things all arranged.
And sweet!

Hello? Is this thing on? I saw some aviation geeks & friends came over here so I thought I would join. Who should I follow?
