The @atproto.science crew have announced a number of their speakers, and are working on finalizing the talks and schedule. We'll highlight this on the website and point to their page for full details atproto.science/events/atmos...

This includes the extent to which AT Protocol infrastructure is owned by entities other than Bluesky Social (through mapping ownership of PDS endpoints) and the implications of this (de)centralization on Bluesky Social's goals. Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A and discussion!

New #ATScience speaker! We’re excited to have Billy Pierce @billwpierce.co share his research on the question: How (de)centralized is Bluesky, really? Billy will be presenting a working paper on the functional (de)centralization of Bluesky. >

Educators we talked to are so terrified to be locked in to another platform and a lot of educational work and healing 🍃 is needed to help them imagine some of the things @atproto.science is doing, its expected impact on science and education. Mutual learning is one of them.

Lea’s custom features for researchers, including (1) paper tracking, discovery, and discussion, (2) customized profiles for researchers, and (3) extensive safety and moderation features to keep discussions calm and productive. Maria will also share goals, challenges, and open questions for Lea.
