see this is what I’m thinking is a “web experience” that you simply can’t access with a typical common web browser

most folks think of “the internet” as websites, social media, etc… but it’s really so much more than that.

what if there was a competitor protocol to HTTP/HTTPS/HTML? perhaps one already exists?

exactly! plus, it's aimed at the edu market, so students can get it for $499 too.

it puts the ipad air (and regular ipad, even) in a really extremely weird spot price-wise, unless you're looking for a true tablet environment or experience

still love my ipad pro though...

(personally i don't check in person either, i just ask and if they say yes, i give it to them)

they actually came really close to implementing a system of checks for that where there was some sort of e-verify... actually it was implemented for a whole 48 hours before it was suddenly taken down and never used again.

It'll be fine. The first Apple Silicon Mac to ever exist was the Developer Test Kit Mac mini which ran on the A12Z processor from the iPad, and folks were stress-testing the hell out of it, and they were very impressed. This was back in 2020.

The A18 Pro > M1 in most cases except GPU.

So it’s $868 for the iPad Air 11” 128gb with keyboard vs $599 for MB Neo. Also iPadOS vs macOS

it really started in 2020 with the M1. Apple has been doing ARM in laptops/desktops since then. we're 5 generations in since then.
