Teaching economics or social sciences?
Concepts like the unemployment rate or labor force participation can be tricky to explain clearly.
Our new Work & Employment page breaks these down with clear explanations and visualizations β all free to download and use in your classes and presentations.
I need to dig a bit, but promising in anyway to see a 7M (not B) model destroy some top of the line proprietary models on, even on a small subset of benchmarks. This hint toward scaling is clearly not the only way forward and we need to keep thinking instead of throwing ever more money and compute.
I'd totally missed "Hierarchical Reasoning Model" (HRM) and follow up papers like TRM.

These are extremely small language models that have some impressive capabilities on some reasoning heavy benchmark like ARC-AGI (v1 at least)

This weekend I create a little something: pace2fit.eu a website (+CLI tool) to help create running workout in .FIT format (garmin, etc) without rely on proprietary apps. Source code hosted on Codeberg and under GNU GPLv3 : codeberg.org/Solal/pace2fit
Feedback welcome :)

Again: them creating a repository of correlated facial recognition data, govt credentials, & personally identifying information w/o a plan to mitigate its being threat surface, attack vector, & tool of potential oppression would've been At Best criminally negligent, but this shit was intentional.

I switched from my (paid/pro) chess.com account to a free lichess.org account. I will be investing some the money I now save to support this open source project.
Infographic titled "Chat Control: Mass scanning of private messages". It asks: "Are your MEPs in the Civil Liberties Committee (LIBE) against it yet?". The image displays a large grid with photos of many European Members of Parliament. Some are highlighted in green with a checkmark, indicating they are against mass scanning. The majority are shown with a red question mark, indicating their stance is unclear or not yet against. At the bottom is the URL fightchatcontrol.eu.
πͺπΊπͺ Good news: π Greens/Pirates & Left file amendments to end #ChatControl 1.0 mass scanning! β

We need to win the majority in the LIBE committee now β this is our chance!

In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women."
Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration.
It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
Our latest.
π Excited to share REPPO, a new on-policy RL agent!
TL;DR: Replace PPO with REPPO for fewer hyperparameter headaches and more robust training.
REPPO, led by @cvoelcker.bsky.social, will be presented at ICLR 2026. How does it work? π§΅π
I just finished this book. I really tore through it; could hardly put it down. Quite gripping story-telling, great writing style.. even from the first chapter.
I recommend everyone using social media read this book. Having used Facebook from the early days up to ~2015, it was quite eye-opening. π³

TMLR's 2025 annual report! The word of the year is growth: whether it's our number of submissions, published papers, or reviewers, pretty much everything has increased ~50%.
EXCEPT: our review period, which is still shorter than NeurICMLR (91 vs 126 days)

And recently (in October) they had a data breach about this very topic (blamed on 3rd party, but still). So yeah, the migration was necessary and is even more justified now. Good luck to everyone who built community there. Never trust American imperialism and neoliberalism.
And for those you have not seen the news about Discord, very quick TLDR: they rolled out forced age verification with ID uploading. The app is forced into a "teenager" mode otherwise. Any server flagged will be inaccessible (think anything NFSW of course, but also LGBT community for example).
TL;DR I would still push for Matrix, but I would love be proven wrong with an FLOSS and federated system that works better :)
XMPP still exist, but good luck converting your normie friends to use something like this.
