i have a bunch of kandi bracelets that i got from people over the past year and i love getting them so much <3 i really wanna make them too, but i really gotta make sure i finish project "finally get the house tidy and rid of shit i don't use" first :D
Bracelets. I love making my own bracelets. I mostly put beads on string but sometimes I'll braid different strings together, tangle some crafting wire (or just electrical wires) or make resin pours.
I love handing them out at munches, pride, or conventions and seeing people wearing my creations!

Origami is fun, cheap, and your local library has plenty of books on it ranging in skill level from absolute beginner to advanced. Anybody can do it! Literally all you need is paper.

on a related note, i think everyone should do something creative on a PHYSICAL medium. it doesn't matter what it is. you can record a mixtape. you draw on some cardboard. make a zine. videotape some birds.
just do ANYTHING you can HOLD. they can't take that away from you. you are not disposable.
it's not hard, it will not take up as much time as you think, you will be spared the panic and stress down the line.

it's more of the same, we've survived it before, we'll survive it again, it doesn't have to be hopeless. hell, it ISN'T hopeless.

i'm mad about the system being shit and stacked against us but i also want everyone to survive. consistently. regardless of whatever kinda shit they try to pull.
making sure you have a plans to handle future incidents and a backup strategy, the day to day load won't significantly increase.
it might take a little bit of extra time, but really comparatively little compared to dealing with this situation every 2-5 years.
and there will be other places and we will build up again and do a little bit better about having a plan for situations like this ^-^
nobody is excited about boring business stuff, but if you're you're consistently taking money from people in trade for art, let alone depending on it as a major source of income, you have to eventually deal with it
if you don't schedule it, it will be "scheduled" for you and it will be inconvenient
i mean that is of course your choice but i'm not gonna roll over and play dead over any of this.
it's also why i've been offering my time wherever i can to help people set things up for the past few years
it's consistent tasks spread out over time consistently rather than having to scramble when shit eventually and unpredictably hits the fan
i don't know what to do about the contingency plan wrt the financial side of things beyond "have an account on at least one other platform" so that you don't have to scramble and find one at the very least
If you're an artist in this community, i will be happy to help you figure out a good backup strategy for your work at the very least -- i need anything in return for it, i just hate to see people panic because they might lose weeks or months of work.
also have proper backups of your work. do not rely on a single place to store your working copies of anything.
I know it's insanely annoying to have additional chores to deal with as an artist, but i promise it WILL save you the stress of scrambling when shit hits the fan again
once again begging everyone to have a contingency plan regardless of what platform you're jumping to next.
