If you’d told me 10 years ago that a station would run a different woman composer every day for a month and still miss some of my favourites (HolmΓ©s, Williams, Poston) I’d lave laughed. Sure it may not be fast enough but good to celebrate a pretty big change in the way we see music history.

For Women's History Month, a monthlong composer spotlight Every day in March, with the exception of Sundays, a different woman composer will take the spotlight at WRTI, with her music played at the start of the 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. hours from Monday through Fri...

We've already missed a few of my favourites, but keep a special eye out for Avril Coleridge-Taylor on the 7th, Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel on the 10th, Maconchy on the 11th, @errollynwallen.bsky.social on the 13th and Ethel Smyth on the 31st.

I love these lists so much (even if I feel a professional obligation to recuse myself...). An intravenous drip of enthusiasm and joy in an otherwise fairly depressing feed.

Allergy training to become compulsory across all schools in England, says government The plans, due to come into force in September, follow support for Benedict's Law, a campaign to improve allergy safety in schools.

We're taking crucial steps to keep children safe in school, so they can achieve and thrive.

For the first time, schools must stock life-saving allergy pens. Allergy awareness training will be provided. Each school will have a dedicated allergy policy.

Catastrophic (for me) co-incidence of World Book Day with Women's month means we have to come up with an "Inspirational *Fictional* Woman", identifiable from her costume. Please send thoughts, prayers and inspiration.

There's a reason (though we tend to Churchill-wash it) why more Jewish refugees from the pogroms ended up in New York rather than London.
