As you've said, more background materials would be a good inclusion.
While Quake becoming locked as the ONLINE brand will always disappoint me, I equally don't want a single-player reboot/remaster. I don't think you can recapture the weirdness of the original in a modern AAA style shooter.
Plus they'd be more likely to do it based on Strogg than the mythos stuff.
We strayed from the true path when pages were no longer manageable in Notepad or Vi and you didn't have a room of techies sweating over Perl scripts.
Databases in the back end were a mistake.
Even if nobody draws Deus Ex anymore I will be the one to do it. #JCDenton

The grot deffo has two hands on a crank handle, not handlebars. Maybe that's for turning the big chaingun, maybe it's for something completely different.
Deluxe Poly - Added a wireframe preview mode for object movement. I find it's sometimes useful for relative movements. But if it's annoying you can go back to real-time movement.

I had to go and look this up and I was shocked to find it was not listed by who I suspected it would be, nor was it as much as they would have wanted for it.

You haven't truly lived until you've had a FOR loop reading 0-255 values from a DATA statement and POKEing it into the specific memory range that held the empty 8*8 glyphs in the Spectrum's character set.

Tragically I can't really make every light in this game glaringly pink/blue because its set in ordinary flats/apartments ca. 2000ish. Next time round I ma doing a space base or something and going ham.
I also may have been spending a little time each work day the past week or so trying things out with Godot's lightmap rendering and discovering that if you are trying to create a fairly naturalistic look with minimal visible light sources it's still really hard.
It was always fun, not least because "mathematically accurate" lighting calculations never match how we perceive lighting.
If you're after sweet, sweet visuals, don't miss out on one of the best human artists around on a rare period of being available for work.

Terrain texturing comes full circle as I take my original messing around with lava and rock, use my improved skills from the other biomes, and finish up with a "volcano" texture set.
