I mean, Street Wolves is a pretty legit flagship product.
I mean, Street Wolves is a pretty legit flagship product.
This is my sign that I owe UNHeroic some love.
The recent events with F5 could theoretically be related. Someone (or someones) might be trying to take advantage and find holes before everyone can get patched up.

Bummer. Guess I overlooked the sanity bit.
And while Chaosium doesn't own Cthulhu, I guess dancing around their stuff would be a bit messy.
The original literary works being public domain and BRP being released under ORC gives some good room for careful creativity.
Hot Take: The second half of Dracula and Seward's character arc would dramatically benefited from a dead Van Helsing around the same time everyone else's parent or mentor died.
Especially if Van Helsing's first vampire had gotten the better of him.

A Vampire Upstairs has a lot of my attention right now.
I'm rereading old vampire fiction as part of the effort to get the juices flowing and digging into non-fiction about the roles and lives of victorian-era servants.
A Vampire Upstairs is the story of a group of servants who must deal with a vampire hiding among a number of high-society eccentrics, preying on the help.
The Goblins are Revolting is a story of a goblin labor uprising.
I may still stick to the original UNHeroic idea and add a werewolf hunt story
After looking into some long-term roadmapping, I'm going to be working on making UNHeroic d5's first publication rather than of Cogs & Monsters.
The system is simple, so I'm anticipating 2-3 modules.

Good HR interactions are like good IT experiences. They're non-experiences that don't become stories.
Reading through this, I do want to clarify that Dogs with Jobs is an already-published game you can buy RIGHT NOW rather than a work in progress.
Lab380 is a tiny game studio made up of really great people who deserve every success.
I've got a lot of games-in-progress to track that I'll be posting about here.
For now, here's Dogs with Jobs by Lab 380. It's a game for dog people by dog people.

We may have spent as much time talking dogs as we spent talking games.
With Gen Con wrapped up, I'd like to say that I was so thrilled to meet so many great game designers at different stages of their projects.
It was really exciting to talk over ideas, playtest prototypes, and see recent releases.
Congrats @prismaticwasteland.com!
Watching the original material that led to a hit is best done with the understanding that they learned a few lessons along the way.
Police Squad is as much Airplane as it is Naked Gun.
Table Cat Games decided that the badlands weren't bad enough and decided to bring you the Worstlands.
Don't miss out on this fun and ridiculous game.

Don't believe me? Check out the old playtest material.

Hey! If you like fun, you should check out Monster Truckers which is available for pre-order for a limited time.

I tried writing a death mechanic like this for of Cogs and Monsters and I clearly failed because I kept making it too complicated.
I'm a little jealous that you managed a way that is just so friggin' clean.
Hard Facts Time. All radio is old-timey.
It doesn't feel that way because we're old.
I love that this is exceptionally bad advice for anyone who owns an old-fashioned hourglass egg timer.
You need enough to break up your walls of texts and piles of paragraphs.
(Meaningful) sidebars and scene description blocking might accomplish this a bit as well
Obviously, a good background goes far.
Maybe "Commission bespoke art to replace stock" could be a stretch goal (or goals) for funding.
I need to get more of it in a cohesive state, but I'd be happy to have the chance to tell more people about the four worlds in the as-of-yet unnamed universe supporting of Cogs and Monsters.
Most of my worldbuilding posts are on reddit, but there's a blurb on the worlds on the front of d5games.net
*"the answer"
"this answer" suggests I'm critiquing something above.
Sorry for any confusion. I'd correct that if Bluesky let me.
Definitely.
I can't speak for others' processes, but the unbidden truly freeform stuff that just secretes from my brain often feels shallow and uninspired until I force it into shape around historical and literary inspiration or add walls to restrict its flow.
That metaphor might be a bit too fun.
I find this answer to this complicated. Taken literally, there's more freedom in creating from scratch.
But I find that drawing boxes and limiting my creative freedom by anchoring to historical inspiration forces me to make things richer and more grounded, as well as better researched.
They fade into the background as much as possible. If it's an all-hands-on-deck situation, another player takes control of their actions.
Custodial players can't spend permanently-lost resources or take undo risks with the character.
A purple-skinned fellow with batlike ears and nose. He bears a badge reminiscent of a marshall or sheriff while holding a revolver at the ready in his right hand. His pose us both relaxed and attentive. He is leaning back on a chair with his feet up. His right arm hanging loose. His feet are crossed and resting on a railing. The duster he wears waves like a cape to his left suggesting sudden movement as if he has just pulled the gun. His eyes are fixed on the viewer and focused. Behind him is a cool night and he is illuminated by moonlight.
I'd love a chance to represent of Cogs and Monsters and Unheroic if there's still some space.
Here's one of my favorite images created for of Cogs and Monsters
This fellow is my bugbear.
If a bunch of indie developers pooled our collective profits, I feel like we would build a negative number of printing presses.
You might have some trouble getting to d5games.net.
It should start forwarding to d5games.com soon.
d5 is also gearing up for a site overhaul to take advantage of some lessons learned over the last year.
Fun note, I'm d5 because I made a system some time ago that relied on 3 d6s that went from 0-5 that allowed for 0-15 rollunder.
I still love the idea, but there's no reasonable go-to-market strategy for it and it's way less intuitive than my 2d6 knucklebones system.
