Home Office enforcement against exploitative sponsors hits all-time high, but fails to protect victims | Work Rights Centre

NEW: Our analysis finds the Home Office has exponentially increased enforcement against rule-breaking employers.

We welcome holding exploitative employers to account, but migrant workers must not be punished for their employers' crimes.

We're concerned to see increasing numbers of migrant women losing sponsorship or being told they cannot get pregnant while sponsored.

This is the experience of Zinhle, who sought our legal advice after the birth of her son, born 3 weeks early due to stress.

Our analysis of official Home Office immigration stats is on the front page of today's Guardian.

It's good to see this huge drop in skilled visas being taken seriously - 'No hospital is likely to welcome a 93% drop in overseas nurses' !

Our research in @theguardian.com/ Latest Home Office stats show radical drop in nurses, therapists, scientists, educational professionals and skilled tradespeople coming to work in the UK. There are real costs to the government's narrow focus on reducing numbers. Time to change focus.

If you're horrified by Reform's headline-grabbing racism (and you should be), you should also be horrified by our current Government's attacks on Indefinite Leave To Remain.

Today, Reform put forward a host of policies that would damage UK families & communities.

While their plan for a UK version of ICE is the most shocking, the plan to end ILR could be catastrophic. Thank you @hollybancroft.bsky.social for comprehensive coverage

Alongside more than 100 MPs, peers and union leaders, we have written to the Home Secretary demanding she immediately halt her 'earned settlement' reforms.

These proposals will only inflict harm on families, communities, public services, and the economy. They must not pass.

The Home Secretary's response to moving the goal post is essentially 'rules change' and the risks to children are ultimately 'the parent's responsibility and they should plan their time in the UK better'.

This is from the party webpage.

Child poverty prevention is clearly not for everyone.

Home Office lets rogue firms regain licences to sponsor migrant visas Employers targeted in a government ‘crackdown’ on abuse of the skilled work system are routinely being granted fresh approvals, Times analysis reveals

More than 1 in 10 employers stripped of their licence had it reinstated to continue hiring - and exploiting - migrants. Shameful. Is the Home Office operating with its eyes closed?

These employers must be fined, and that money must be used to compensate victims.
