Yes, this is a subtweet of the current US. Many people performatively criticize their government, but where are the thousands of people in the streets willing to be beaten/die to change things?
They aren't there. Trump knows it. That's why he's doing what he wants, and GOP enables him w/out fear.
The strength of a democracy in given country is directly proportional to the percentage of the population who are willing to put their body on the line to defend it.
Not to be mistaken with the percentage of people who just post about it, but won't actually risk any real consequences to themselves.
