What an incredible amount for an independent Board to award its CEO.

Oh… Brin and Page have 56% and “super-voting” shares? Well…

Today's been a bit of a buzz sharing our $1.5B fundraise and vision to the world. Loved my interview with Tom Mackenzie on Bloomberg News where we discussed the lastest across Wayve. Key takeaways: *...

For insights on where #autonomous #mobility is headed, watch these 12min with Alex Kendall (CEO, @wayveai.bsky.social). Notable: addressing the “whole” market by licensing software to “any” OEM.

It’s also, quite simply, an excellent interview by @bloomberg.com

I love this open, transparent, and immensely #ethical approach to SaaS #pricing: Depending on the development level of your company’s native country, #Kimai will provide a discount. Bravo!

Take note, big software… take note.

Over many years, I’ve called it the end of #defaultcar, @brenttoderian.bsky.social. The end of the car as the default option. Which thus encompasses a need for efforts to provide viable options.

Lost my phone in London, with four credit cards and £150 cash in the case. Returned to me within 21 minutes. This hellhole of a city eh.

For ten years, we‘ve been writing about Internal Combustion Engines, to which this message refers. Looks like we need a new acronym.

“It's not my duty as Mayor to make sure you have a parking spot. For me it's the same as if you bought a cow, or a refrigerator, and then asked me where you're going to put them.” — Mayor of Pontevedra, Spain (re-elected 6 times)

Musings on The End of Humans We are all going to die. Eventually. An overview of the path to the end of our species. And why we should stop worrying about it.

“New cities will spring up in the Scandinavian countries, Greenland, Canada, Siberia, and on the seventh continent (buy your real-estate now).”

I wrote this some years ago in the context of #climatechange. Little did I know #Greenland would become so coveted…

Haters on the right and left are wrong about London It’s a hub, not a hellhole. Labour should give it more love

The world’s best and brightest flock to London.

Its future—and Britain’s—depends on continuing to be a magnet

The safety of AVs must and will be intensely monitored. The aspiration must be, #VisionZero, and the analysis of incidents must be as thorough as in aviation.

A key contextual question is, though, which *relative* rate of casualty is society accepting of. That is: robots relative to human drivers.

I have to say… the look is pretty badass. The shades, the almost lambchops.

Louvre's higher ticket prices for non-European visitors take effect Starting on Wednesday, January 14, any adult visitor from outside the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway will have to pay €32 ($37) to enter the Louvre – a 45% increase.

Sensible public policy, way overdue.

Absolutely true. But they are usually built and sold there, not exported from the US. See: Ford Europe.

The US top exporter of vehicles… is neither Ford, nor GM, nor Tesla… (it’s BMW).

Why David Zipper is Wrong By Lukas Neckermann It’s getting a bit tiring. One pundit suggests that Europe is lagging woefully behind in the autonomous race.

Europe’s path on #autonomous #mobility is its own.

The “race” isn’t one. But if it were, Europe has already removed a few hurdles that come a little later on the journey. And answered the question, “why”?

GERMAN PRESIDENT STEINMEIER:

“.. the United States has broken with the values that it helped to establish ..

“.. we have now moved beyond the stage where we can lament the lack of respect for international law or the erosion of the international order; we are far beyond that, I believe.”

In Vegas, there are a few robots that are meant to deliver packages. Here in the UK, thankfully humans are back in the loop.

It’s January 6th 2026. In the last year, the Dow Jones has grown 14.5%. Not too bad.

But the DAX, FTSE, NIKKEI have each grown considerably (!) more in the same timespan.

I thought the scale of the imperial ambitions (and downfall) might be at the “once in a century” level. It may just be at the “once in a millennium” level. Furiously writing so that history is captured…

Planning an event with a ton of startups and investors.

A VC has just told me they won’t attend, solely because we won’t pay travel cost (1hr flight). 🤣

What does this say about the #VC ecosystem atm?

Obviously this is a bold, clever, and justified move by Mayor #Mamdani.

It does raise the spectre of successive administrations (city, state, or national), whatever the party, simply reversing everything, every time in one single action. This kills any continuity & eliminates the ability to plan. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Those who just prioritise for the biggest net return may end up in a place they don’t enjoy (but will keep telling themselves it was the right financial decision).

Through their policies, countries and states choose their residents, too, by the way.

This certainly applies to Europe.

Because they see that their tax money is well invested: in culture, in healthcare, in education, in social equality, in safety. And because their friends, family, and social circle are there, too.
