Ummm I actually don't know the answer to that first question. πŸ€” I know the field was there and I filled it out though. Weird.

But for the second: it's largely a function of time and luck. (I've probably spent ~500 hours on this game and only gotten to e-level numbers a handful of times.)

I actually wrote it out in the alt text, FWIW πŸ€“

But as a short version: Triboulet gives 2x mult for each king played. Two of the other jokers just copy Triboulet, so I effectively have four, and the remaining two just re-trigger cards. So each played king gives 2x mult between 8 and 16 times.

Hmmm, wonder how much I've got left to pay off on my mortgage.

[My mortgage dashboard is blank]

Ok...let's check my credit card points.

[Can't log in because the password form is coded wrong and my password manager can't detect it]

[Manually log in]

[There's a new dashboard. It isn't working.]

Guess I'll just go do some online shopping. [Product page 404s]

Ok...maybe I'll handle that return I've been putting off.

[Wastes 10 minutes with an AI chatbot that repeats the same irrelevant answers until I manage to bully it into connecting me with a human]

Guess I can go get some work done while I wait.

Whoops. GitHub's down again.

I've been trying for two weeks to set up education savings accounts for my kids. Should take 10 minutes online, but the portal's broken.

Just tried to pay my kids' pediatrician online. No way to see what I'm actually being billed for, but doesn't matter, because the payment fails every time anyway.

I notice a high correlation between the volume of companies I hear saying AI writes all their code, and the volume of phone calls I have to make to actual human customer service agents because their company's web app is impossibly broken for the simple task I want to do.

Amazing how we went from not being able to style selects, to doing things like this with them codepen.io/editor/cbols... (and this codepen.io/t_afif/pen/P...)

Just realizing I've 100%-ed all nine of these games.

Literally done everything there's some kind of an achievement for in all nine of 'em.

This is a good principle for design in general:

When users tell you there's a problem, they are usually right.

When users tell you how to fix it, they are usually wrong.

(bonus: if you replace "user" with "stakeholder" this still applies)

I just can't help myself; I love it when bad things happen to bad people.

That's true...the goals are a little more aligned (or at least, the conflicts of interest are less present) when we're not talking about a game made by a publicly traded company.

A lot of (these) indie games could very well have existed decades ago. For the most part, there wasn't any hardware advancement that made them possible. More than that, they exist just because of teams who "stay behind" after major publishers have moved on and keep playing and iterating.

05.03.2026 14:38 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Hmmm. I'd broaden that argument. I think AAA publishers have always been chasing what's new and hot. For decades that was graphics, but now hardware is plateauing enough that it's shifting.

I think indie games generally succeed because they take the freedom to explore and refine overlooked ideas.

It strikes me that this list has only 3 major publisher titles on it and 6 indie games.

I'm kinda missing RPG/strategy but otherwise I think I have a fairly healthy mix of genres here.

This actually really nagged at me, not so much on its own, but in concert with something that's started happening to my son at school.

I started to write up my feelings as a thread, but then it turned into a full-fledged blog post.

Ok, dudes: what's going on? There are literally five cereals exactly like this already in the cereal aisle at Costco, they just aren't aggressively gendered.

Do you guys not realize it's ok to eat anything any other person eats? Do you not shop? Can you not read more than 10 words? How can I help?

This led me to wonder if the selection would even further down on each consecutive line, but that does not seem to be the case. The top line is just extra tall, and every line below the first has a selection that's maybe about the right size, but a bit below where it should be.

Confirmed

Possibly of note: I know this isn't what you asked, but the top selection seems to extend really far down into the second line when the first line is selected as well

We really need to standardize on whether 2FA screens have a button to press to send the code, or whether the code is just automatically sent when the screen loads, because I conservatively estimate this is costing us approximately 30 billion hours a year.
