What link?
I don't oppose scraping in principle, but I do oppose it when I start getting a bunch of server usage alerts because of it.
Most people are a bit more responsible thankfully
If you have noticed some extra scraping restrictions since yesterday, π€¬ you for the thousands of requests per hour
The NHL has postponed tonightβs Kings vs. Blue Jackets game due to severe winter weather.
As per Elliotte Friedman, Chicago has traded Laurent Brossoit, Nolan Allan and a 2028 7th round to pick San Jose for Ryan Ellis, Jake Furlong and a 2028 4th round pick. #BlackhawksΒ #TheFutureIsTealΒ #NHL
A new way to express how wild the East has been this season:
Every team has been on the outside of the playoffs except Carolina.
Every team has held a DIVISIONAL playoff spot at some point.
(previous post said Buffalo hadn't been in the playoffs yet - I missed the 1 day they were)
Schedule update: Tonight's Blue Jackets @ Senators game has been moved back to 7:30pm EST from 7pm
Seattle Kraken fans get a sneak preview of what's coming in the next @hockeygamebot.com update tomorrow.
At the end of each period Β» possession metrics from @naturalstattrick.com broken down by period & the total for the game. Helps to visualize a bit of game flow!

From a purely technical standpoint, I've seen way more temporary "gaps" during games this season where a line in the play by play report is incomplete, and elements used in the xG (like the type of shot - wrist, snap, etc) are missing at first, which completely breaks my xG in the short term.
The comment about the drop in shots on net impacting xG isn't quite true (assuming they're being recorded as missed shots instead), though other changes could be having an impact there. Giveaways and takeaways definitely could.
Interesting look at the goings on behind the scenes, and I've definitely seen some impact.
The NHL has been adjusting the stat sheets (in game and post-game, and sometimes over a week later) as long as I've been doing this, but the volume of changes is way up.

We'll see. Extremely rare to keep this general level of success up for an entire season, but not unheard of.
This pace would JUUUUST beat the 2022-23 Boston Bruins, holder of the current record for "best point % over 82 games", who clinched after 64 games (at 105 points).
Current point percentages in the West would project out to Colorado mathematically clinching a spot around game 62 or 63 in early March, so 7 or 8 games after the Olympic break.
So both before the break and in January would be a stretch, but wild that it's even a possiblity.
Conventional wisdom: You can't make the playoffs in December, but you can miss them.
2025-26 Avalanche: Okay, but what about January?
Colorado really needs to pick up the pace if they want to... uhh...
*checks notes*
...clinch a playoff spot before the Olympic break
But this one is sticking around
A bit under 4 hours until this one disappears
Again for the afternoon crowd
The second (and permanent) feature is a "timeline" of the standings for each conference over the course of the season - both the order of the standings, and the scale of the point gap.
Available for the overall conference standings, and for the wildcard standings.
Two new features for the standings page - one temporary, one permanent.
First, TODAY ONLY, a handy visual cue to identify which teams are 4+ points out of the playoffs as of US Thanksgiving. It'll be gone once the clock ticks over to Friday!

And you know what, while you're at it give @hockeyviz.com

blue checks as well. Let's get a stew going.
Well, looks like I need to spend some time blocking some ads from appearing on the site tonight...
And fix the previews too.
Probably that one first.
My first instinct when I saw that this morning was "where did my code break"
But nope, it's real
Ah, that's better
Yes, it's been a known issue during preseason. I was hoping to have it sorted out by now, but unfortunately haven't been able to get to it yet.
