A reminder: this is an Irishman with valid papers speaking about how he's being held in US concentration camps. If you don't have to go to the US, do not go to the US. "GDC" is not "have to go". One denial at the border is going to mark you for life, and that's the best of the bad outcomes.

1) Masterful.
2) Good cinematography, but terrible boxing.
3) Visually amazing. Not very interesting otherwise.
4) Exciting, but not creative or thoughtful.

This is a testament to censorship in the US, and the government's influence in the media. As a Canadian, it's terrifying to see a country formerly respected as "free" and "democratic," especially as my own government passes increasingly un-democratic bills.
Most of their videos were collaborations with individual activists, so they still exist on those activists' profiles. ...except the videos about ICE, which are gone without a trace.
Today, their Instagram account vanished. To see for yourself, go to instagram.com/chilli.app/.
I'm one of their video editors, and I'm proud to say that many of their (well-researched) videos about ICE were gaining significant traction on Instagram. One was reposted by @markruffalo.bsky.social, and had well over half a million views.
The organization is called Chilli (chilli.club), and they used to focus on climate activism. Recently, they shifted some of their efforts to social issues, like ICE and Iran.
About a week after starting to post anti-ICE videos, the activism organization I work with was banned from Instagram. (thread)

Anyone know if this stat has a secondary source? I've been doing some digging for a video about Bluesky, and couldn't find this ~30% replicated anywhere. @jay.bsky.team, if you see this, I'd love to do an interview!
Currently, it's just me - Cohen Berg, aka velichor online. I've been writing "we" or "us" when writing from Spira's perspective - in anticipation of working with others - but... maybe I shouldn't be? Learning every day about launching a business, haha.
Any press is good press.
This case is an important one to watch if you care about your own right to know. If the police are free to arrest, detain and block journalists while acting on industry's behalf, our whole information ecosystem gets eroded.
This is a new project of mine. Would really appreciate if you took a minute to check it out, and I'd love to hear what you think :)

Canadian Press News: Headline: "Global Affairs Canada not aware of any Canadians hurt or killed in Swiss bar fire" Excerpt: Global Affairs Canada says it's not currently aware of any Canadian citizens among the dozens killed and hundreds injured in a Swiss bar fire.
Is there a good reason for me to care so much more about Canadian lives than Swiss ones?
Lately it's been bothering me how often news stories talk of the few, singular, or even *potential* North Americans hurt abroad - instead of acknowledging the equal horror of any life being lost in a tragedy.
Watching Trump speak and justify why the US is entitled to invade another country and kidnap the president makes me think that when we started talking about the βpost-truthβ era, we had no idea of how deeply post-truth itβd become.
Perception of reality is now random and optional.
People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesnβt matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they arenβt! End of convo.
Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.
Which means itβs now the US administrationβs position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.
I also felt like I wrote a lot today, but I think most of it was in a search engine. Iβm too curious for such a confusing world with near-infinite instantly available information.
