How do people keep saying that Elon Musk and Peter Thiel are so well spoken? How did these guys make it this far while being so demonstrably poorly spoken, so much so that it’s quite offputting?
The word “login” comes from throwing a log attached to a rope with knots overboard a ship to see how many knots go by over time (see also, knots as speed). You’d then put that info in the “log book.” You’d “log in” on a regular basis. This wasn’t from 1959, it was likely from 1689! Etymology baby!
Current mood…
Bestbuy never loaded. Walmart put me in a queue but I never exited it. Target was flaky and I wasn’t sure the transaction would go through and it hung — but suddenly I got a confirmation email. I went in another tab and saw it in my order history.
I just send my kid this meme. But really, he’s got a Nintendo Switch 2 pre-ordered, so all good. 🤣 #NintendoSwitch2
🎮Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Order complete!✅😍 #NintendoSwitch2
We only wish your commentary segments was a little longer. We definitely missed you this year alongside the chefs cooking. We love your insight and wit.
Don’t be an asshole and just let people chill is my political platform
I quote @scott.hanselman.com from this tweet all the time when people say, "But it has a little lock showing on the browser so it must be secure!" 🤣
In fairness, sometimes it is also a really cool border that apologizes for not being able to help me with something right now. 🤣
Every single time 😂
What the….???
Our kid got hooked on L&P and Lemmy during our last visit to New Zealand. Here’s a treat box we ordered for when he comes home from college. Wish we could find these in the USA or Ontario.
Kind of scared to fire up VSCode today.
Beware the IDEs of March.

Just got my own. These things rock!
Chuck Schumer was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Eventually the wheel of karma will turn again in the favor of sensible people, but God, am I tired of waiting.
THIS! AI is awesome but it doesn’t replace the work of people. It augments it and makes tasks easier. And image generation isn’t as great as other areas. When it is, it dances on the lines of copyright infringement.
OH YEAH! My new desktop has arrived! Mac Studio M4 Max (16c CPU, 40c GPU, 16c Neural Engine, 64GB, 1TB)! Quite the upgrade from my original Mac Studio. #macstudio #m4max
Helping a group of older customers migrate to Azure and Office 365 is like...
Bad, bad gateway...shame!
Or instead someone would buy a Gravis UltraSound (GUS) and they wouldn't ever shut the fuck up about it...
I dunno. I’ve hired electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, cabling companies, a generator company, and a lawn service with multiple young women in their dispatch routine. All doing fantastic jobs. You couldn’t even think of such a thing when I was a kid. I think it’s pretty darned awesome!!!
You should try developing for it for the past 20 years…
I was looking at that last night as an option. That certainly helps so I don’t have to do a lot of work. But grouping and colorization of connections seems missing, unless it just doesn’t have a GUI to configure it (which is fine for now).
So far I don’t see my ADS extensions in @vscode.dev I hope they do because this is not feature complete and it stinks.
THIS! The connection manager stinks. Colored tabs were key to know you were on the right DB. I would be OK with this if the MSSQL extension for vscode was feature complete, but it is not. Connection manager is sub-par, UX features sub-par, and extensions to ADS I rely on are not there.
