Yup...
We have mobilised full humanitarian response across region and will meet this moment.β¨β¨But humanitarians are being asked to do too much with too little, while politicians pour oil on fire and boast of spending billions on war while aid budgets are slashed.
While defunding the deployment of scientific power against the "cancer" of cancer.
As happens to many people, I have been feeling very underappreciated, put-upon and unfairly at the receiving end of circumstance lately. Seeing the skiers today at the Paralympics brave those slopes however put that into perspective, however. My complaints are humbled.
Who doesn't love a bit of state cops...
Lovely photo. Thank you for sharing!
But this stuff is important. International law is not only or arguably even mostly NGOs at the UN. The laws of war are fundamental and its architects were pragmatic people who accepted that wars were going to happen regardless of the law.
A great replacement theory that is actually true...?
The law concerning the legality of a given war and the laws governing the practice of war are separate. There is a good reason for this. Even if the war itself is illegal, the combatants still have to obey the laws of war.
EU businesses' lobbying effort to water down pay transparency law fails
Or some of the people walking into that stadium are blind or severely disabled competitors whoβve spent years overcoming severe hardship and prejudice just to train to reach the Paralympics. Many canβt vote their government out of office, and none started wars they are often the hidden victims of.
My expert advise is to not stand next to an open door when you have ballistic missiles incoming, no matter how well your video will do on the internet.
Right now would be a great time to rollback green mandates
Describing a blind Russian Paralympian as a "huge propaganda Victory" ...
The #Channel4 commentators are talking about anything except the Paralympians. It is like they are treating it as a podcast, and frankly this is showing such disrespect towards the global Paralympians who have worked so hard to be here.
I have looked forwards to the opening ceremony of the winter #Paralympics but the #Channel4 commentators not only won't STFU but won't STFU about the inclusion of Russian and Belarusian athlètes.

This is a really valuable point.
Honored to present at the @ecb.europa.eu Legal Colloquium today on the constitutional risks of the EUβs simplification agenda.
Invoking βurgencyβ cannot justify bypassing impact assessments, public consultations & the rule of law.
The @ombudsman.europa.eu agreed
If anyone thinks that a winning strategy can work without a winning candidate they are delusional.
Merz is a problem of his own making.
Kurt Tucholsky dazu:
"Der Zustand der gesamten menschlichen Moral lΓ€Γt sich in zwei SΓ€tzen zusammenfassen: We ought to. But we donβt."
Well in France there are genuine Constitutional and EU dangers of the extremes. But the UK has left the EU and has no concept of constitutional norms. So ofc the result is incongruous.
Le duo de la honte. Jamais Le Pen et Bardella ne doivent arriver au pouvoir.
Le risque pour le pays est trop grand en temps de guerre.
Two dynamic action shots of American track and field icon Jackie Joyner-Kersee in competition. Top image: Jackie mid-javelin throw in a stadium with orange seating. She wears a red-and-white top with bib number 578 on her chest, long hair pulled back. Her right arm about to drive the javelin forward, left arm across her chest, face lifted in fierce concentration. Bottom image: Jackie clearing hurdles in rain during an outdoor track event. Water streaks across the frame as she leaps over a barrier in mid-flight. She wears a navy-blue USA with white and red accents, bib number 33 or 6 visible, white track spikes, and her hair pulled back. Her leading left leg extends straight over the hurdle, trailing right leg tucked, arms pumping for rhythm, muscles engaged, expression focused amid splashing rain and a blurred stadium crowd in the background. The paired photos showcase her exceptional athleticism and versatility across heptathlon events, including javelin and hurdles.
Voted the Greatest Female Athlete of the 20th Century
πHappy Birthday Jackie Joyner-Kersee! π

This is a huge problem for Merz. The headlines this morning are not about the fact that later on he told Handelsblatt that he privately pressed the President regarding Sanchez. They are about his public refusal to push back against the president regarding Sanchez.
Merz is areal after-the-fact politician though. What people aren't talking about is ther fact that later he says that he pressed the President.
