Most of the webcomics I love were either recommended to me or found via other people's reblogs/reposts, and I think that's true for lots of people. IMO many of us are more likely to click through on a comic if it has the seal of approval from someone we follow. So don't underestimate your reblog!

I just wanted to say that if you're enjoying Silver & Iron, reblogging it or recommending it to people you know is one of the best ways you can support it! The hardest part about webcomics isn't the art or writing, it's people knowing it exists ๐Ÿ˜ญ
I really appreciate the shares it gets! Thank you!

I actually agree with you there, Charles - "goofy" is the natural state of the werewolf. And I can pledge to you, and my readers, that my werewolves will honour this. In fact I promise they're always going to be a little chopped

Thank you for inviting me onto your talk show for serious cartoonists. Yes, yes, you're right - I did start a comic about werewolves without knowing how to draw werewolves. How do they look? Well, Charles. I'll be honest with you. goofy

I still fondly remember my moot's wisdom "aw man I can't draw this.... guess it'll have to look bad!"

Feeling this hard again as I finally tackle drawing part 3 but I'm fighting. I'm fighting

This comment was so gratifying haha, thank you so much! I think you get it 100% - Ashley is very interesting for me to write because while he's definitely choosing a facet of himself to present that would be most advantageous, none of those facets are wholly fake. It's complicated for all involved!

Ahh I'm mad I missed it! But I hope it was fun!

It's just a bummer and a half for everyone!! But also YES LOL it's a convenient opportunity to demonstrate how quickly werewolf hair grows (and Maddoc's grows faster than average, too). Feel like he was holding it in the entire meeting like a fart (not how that works)

It was such a sad scene to write ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ’” but YES YOU'RE RIGHT LOL no sorry at least we have Ashley to look at in this trying time ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™

I'm glad the nuance of the situation comes across but also ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜” it's just sad for everyone involved... no winners just a few scraps

- especially the main character's relationship with her daughter is unfolding so subtly but with so many layers, the misconnections between them are so well handled. And your art is always punchy but adorable! I'm really invested in this story & its mysteries!

I just want to say that I binge read all of FaTW and I loved it so much! Every time I thought I knew the safe option another writer might take, you chose the satisfying complex path and I adored it. The characters and relationships are really compelling and hit home, for better or worse-

Maddoc sits in a humble living room, taking up most of one sofa, across from an older woman sitting in the other one. A bouquet of flowers is on a coffee table between them along with a box of tissues, one of which the woman holds. Her shoulders are slumped and she is gazing down, her thin, straight hair falling over her shoulders and face. Another framed photo behind her shows a man in a graduation gown and cap. The woman - Mrs Lancaster - starts to speak, her expression numb. โ€œThis was his worst nightmare. He never even had a girlfriend longer than a year. He was terrified of passing it on, even by accident. Used to wake up screaming when he was a kid. [Quote] I bit them! I bit them!โ€ As she talks, Ashley, wearing a matching suit, glances over at one of the framed photos on the mantle. It shows the woman wearing a sunhat and holding up a prize ribbon, beaming as she poses for the photo with her adult son, who smiles nervously and holds up a watering can. โ€œDidnโ€™t matter that he hadnโ€™t changed like that since he was still in preschoolโ€ฆ he always said, Mom, what if it stops working? What if one day, I just canโ€™t control it?โ€ Ashley recalls the look of agony on the infected werewolf sonโ€™s face after Ashley had been forced to kill him, contrasted with the happy, less gaunt face of the son in the photo. Mrs. Lancaster: โ€œI told him he was being silly.โ€ Ashley looks away. She goes on. โ€œHow could something like this even happenโ€ฆ? He was taking those awful drinks of yours nearly every damn day, on top of the dampenerโ€ฆโ€

He was taking those awful drinks of yours nearly every damn day, on top of the dampenerโ€ฆโ€

Maddoc looks almost unrecognisable with a clean shaven face, his normally shaggy hair slicked back, dressed in a plain black business suit and tie - though he retains his ear piercings. He gestures with a level expression. โ€œBy our current understanding, the infection bypasses all dampeners, tonics, and even tattoos. There was nothing else your son could have done. It wasnโ€™t his fault.โ€ His last statement doesnโ€™t comfort Mrs Lancaster, instead making her angry, and she tenses up before lashing out to yell โ€œNo, it wasnโ€™t his fault, it was yours!โ€ She continues to shout, upset, washed in light from the window while Ashleyโ€™s face is cast in shadow sitting opposite from her. He keeps his eyes down and his expression stony. Mrs. Lancaster: โ€œYouโ€™ve been promising a cure for as long as weโ€™ve been paying your damn dues! I donโ€™t care about any pension or funeral costs - I want my son back! You people were supposed to protect him! All you keep saying is Oh, weโ€™re getting closer, weโ€™re getting closer- well where the hell is it? Havenโ€™t you had fifty years!?โ€ Ashleyโ€™s eyes sharpen as she adds, โ€œMy son is dead because you people donโ€™t care enough to do your damn job-!โ€ Maddoc raises a hand to attempt to intervene, starting to say โ€œMaโ€™am,โ€ but Ashley attracts Mrs. Lancasterโ€™s attention by saying โ€œYouโ€™re right.โ€

A tight closeup on Ashley, face in shadow, his expression artificially neutral. โ€œWeโ€™re not doing enough. We canโ€™t do enough. The tiniest bite is contagious and the mortality rate is 100%. It kills mundane hosts too quickly to get anywhere in lab settings. That means gathering research or running trials in the field, which is dangerous, and worse, agonisingly slow. Butโ€ฆโ€ He glances at Maddoc pointedly. Maddoc can only look back at him with quiet confusion but says nothing. Ashley returns his attention to Mrs. Lancaster. โ€œI shouldnโ€™t be telling you this, but we are close. Closer than weโ€™ve ever been. For the first time, a vaccine candidate has been shown to have an actual effect against the infection. I was there. I saw it. And I was there with your son, too. In his last moments, heโ€ฆโ€ Ashley clenches his fist with downcast eyes. โ€œHe pulled himself back from biting. He made sure nobody else got infected that night. It took phenomenal strength, and it saved lives.โ€ As he speaks, Mrs. Lancaster listens, her expression softening back to sadness. Ashley: โ€œI know we were too late to save your son, and for that, I have no excuse. But if you agree to grant us custodianship of your son after his funeral, he can help us save even more lives, and make sure this never happens to anyone elseโ€™s children, ever again.โ€ Mrs. Lancaster turns away, sniffing back a tear. After a moment she replies, โ€œDo what you like. That thing you brought backโ€™s not my son any more, anyway.โ€ Ashley keeps his gaze down.

A transitional panel shows gnarled tree branches bare of leaves as Ashley says โ€œThank you, Ms. Lancaster.โ€ The two brothers sit in Maddocโ€™s truck. Ashley is still wearing his black suit but Maddoc has discarded the jacket and untied his tie. His beard stubble is already starting to peek back out. Maddoc starts the engine and Ashley buckles his seatbelt as they talk. Maddoc: โ€œWas any of that true?โ€ Ashley, neutral: โ€œInfection had cooked the eyes out of his skull, I doubt there was much thinking going on. But we got permission to dissect the body, and Ms. Lancaster got a sense of closure and purpose.โ€ Maddoc watches Ashley wordlessly. Ashley: โ€œWin-win. Right?โ€ He has turned away slightly but his face, reflected in the window, reveals a more conflicted expression than his words would indicate. Maddoc turns his attention back to the road, still saying nothing, but with an uneasy frown. The truck screeches in a tight circle as Maddoc makes an illegal right-hand turn. Ashley: โ€œWoah! Maddoc- geez- what-? I donโ€™t think you can turn here-โ€ Maddoc shifts gears as he talks, ignoring Ashley. โ€œWeโ€™re gonna need to dial up our efforts for a while. Donโ€™t wanna give the Wolfe family any more ammo that weโ€™re slacking. That means more numbers out on patrol, every night.โ€ Ashley, bracing against the dashboard: โ€œOkay, yeah, I hear you-โ€ Maddoc interrupts him with a smirk. โ€œSo I reckon you need to run a Gauntlet or two, just in case youโ€™ve gone soft.โ€ Ashley pauses before allowing a little smile of his own. โ€œIf you wanted to be humiliated, you shouldโ€™ve just called Chelsea. Youโ€™re on.โ€

My theories: Pombon will be Fire/Fairy (because we don't have that type combo in the game at all yet) and will just end up as a big campfire-dog. I think Gecqua will narrow in on the wiggly nature of geckos and end up serpentine - like a river - possibly Dragon type.
Browt - no idea, but invested!

Browt turning anthro would be too similar to Combusken and Decidueye; Gecqua turning anthro would be too similar to Inteleon and Salandit; and I think Pombon turning anthro would be too on-the-nose a comparison to Incineroar, who's still too dominant a Mon for that comparison to be favourable

My partner & I looked through the previous gens, and since 11 of the last 12 starters have had humanoid final evos, to mixed reception, I think we're gonna go back to all three ending in the Big Animal camp. I think their simplified designs mirroring G1-2 supports this idea of "back to basics"

Everyone loves to speculate about Pokemon so they can say "CALLED IT!!!!" when the game does anything even remotely close to what they theorised. And I am no different. So:
Everyone's talking about which one will hard pivot bipedal, but I believe we are due for an All Beastie Generation

Colour digital fanart of Sanji from One Piece standing with his back to a brick alleyway wall, cigarette in his mouth and one hand in his pocket. The wall is covered with variously faded bounty posters, though their identities can't be read except for one that says "Vinsmoke Sanji". Sanji's right foot is still resting against the wall where it has torn a line through the name "Vinsmoke" and the posters under and next to it, paper bunching under his shoe. He has painted over the poster to read "Black Leg" in red paint before the name "Sanji" and glares at the viewer.

For ppl who aren't aware:
Old temperate forests are insanely rare nowadays and extremely important ecosystems lost forever once cut.
They're not just "old trees" but intricate networks of trees, fungi and all kinds of living creatures.
You CANNOT replant this!! Once it's gone it's lost FOREVER!!!

Thank you for the insight! I appreciate it! I really don't know anything about American cities outside of what I pick up incidentally from pop culture and I realised I had absolutely no mind's eye for Baltimore, so I thought I'd ask. Anything you'd recommend watching that depicts it well?
