The only way Mercs arent getting pole with that rocketship
Definitely recommend reading anything from Derren. He's a big hit in the UK for his psychological illusions, but the guy has a lot of very deep things that really makes you think twice about preconceived notions. Book I'm currently reading is "A book of secrets: Finding comfort in a complex world"
Each of us is leading a difficult life, and when we meet people we are seeing only a tiny part of the thinnest veneer of their complex, troubled existences. To practise anything other than kindness towards them, to treat them in any way save generously, is to quietly deny their humanity
Derren Brown
My perception might be because I'm solely rooted in the N64 era then
Could be a length thing? This vid is noticeably longer than your other videos excl megacuts. The 101 TAS frequently gets comments of people commenting a timecode so they can watch it in chunks. Perhaps thats the same with this one? Idk for sure, but just spitballing ideas.
But does it have the same audience as those who watch SM64, SMB3 etc. If you're getting praised by the comments but not doing as well in the algorithm then it suggests an issue with either the subject of the content or things like the thumb/title/metadata.
Hmm, perhaps Im talking out of my ass then
To back up the recommended point: My wife and I tend to watch 1-2 videos whilst we have dinner. We can be watching Hells Kitchen as our dinner show and I will get bombarded with HK videos in my recommended. But within 1 week of us watching someone play Stardew Valley, HK recommendations vanish.
Which is to say that the views arent a sign of people not liking your work, but perhaps it not getting recommended or piquing as many interests
And the viewing experience is different every time because the seed is different. I think theres still the interest from speedrunning, but the recommendations for speedruns are probably down because of speedrunning's (potential) decline.
The other is that speedrunning, I feel, is very much on the decline. So less people are searching up speedruns. Not to toot any horns adjacent to mine, but I feel randomizers are taking the place of speedrunning. You get to watch your favorite game over and over with people who know how to go fast.
Contrast this with Mario/Donkey Kong/Minecraft where either there are new games coming out getting the casual audience involved or the game is receiving new content meaning its getting in those recommended feeds.
Celeste came out 10ish years ago, so theres not a whole lot of reason for it to appear in anyone's recommended unless they're somewhat obsessed with Celeste or interested in speedrunning.
I think its a mix of two things, one in your control and one not in your control. Celeste, whilst popular isn't part of a series of games and doesnt have the full nostalgia factor about it. If you're interested in Celeste, itll only show up if Celeste happens to be in your recommended topics atm.
Dang dude, that's rough. Sorry to hear. Hope you're able to find a place which appreciates your work more soon.
My hopeful goal is that, *IF* the BKR/BTR devs want to implement custom music support for their respective randos, the custom music library can live under 1 roof (the DK64R Pack Builder), and the conversion between formats can happen client-side when the user downloads a pack.
There are some limitations to this. Not every instrument in the banjo games is present in DK64, so it can't 1-to-1 match everything.
Additionally, you'll have to disable the Banjo games music track blending feature.
But it works... it just works
So, turns out that DK64, Kazooie and Tooie have similar enough soundfont contents and compiled binary format that you can convert a DK64 track (vanilla or custom) in it's compiled binary form to either Banjo game's format without having to convert it back to a MIDI, and it'll sound almost identical.
Feels kinda sad too, felt like the show found it's footing again after the missteps of 7/8/9. Almost all of the episodes in S10-12 were straight bangers
Sounds like they're not gonna be making any more Red Dwarf with the original quartet anymore.
Whilst it makes sense (Robert is nearly 70), and the show enjoyed a longer run than many others, I don't think it really got the ending it deserved. Instead RD 13/14 has been in limbo for 6 years.
Today, I give thanks to vanilla DK64. 4 bug reports have turned up in the 5.0 bug reports chat today, and because of the vanilla game, only 25% of them are actual rando bugs that need fixing (the other 75% being non-serious bugs with the vanilla game)
I didnt even notice that. What a diagram
In Donkey Kong 64, the Giant Spider miniboss can only be fought once. Modifying the game to fight it a second time makes it unceremoniously explode. While this appears to be a glitch, examining the code reveals it was actually deliberately added for the developers' own amusement.
This is a great training diagram and we will be teaching DK64R devs that they "must continvoucly morge your PRs over Tinm"

Clearly the reviewer got angry at Hyper Hexagonest and decided to get revenge.
And to that I say "skill issue"
Early 2000s was peak F1 livery design in terms of being able to discern teams quickly
You're not ready for the SHEER madness that is gonna be DK64 Randomizer 6.0.
You think you are
You are not
Speaking of bizarre changes, they made all level geometry in the JP release of DK64 slightly brighter. This wasn't a screen filter, but instead changing the vertex colors for all map files. (Left: All other versions, Right: JP).
This was changed back for the Lodgenet "release".
