Phantom Obligation
Why RSS readers look like email clients, and what that's doing to us.
Too rarely, an app creator breaks outdated conventions and designs their dream app from first principles to solve a problem in a radical way, instead of shipping yet another uninspired clone.
If youβre into laser-focused creators, this is well worth your time.

Not at this time, but letβs revisit if the app starts paying for rent and food at some point. These times are quite rough economically for people like me.

De rien ! Happened to me as well, and that was quite annoying.
I should add a list of all websites with JavaScript exceptions so that they can be easily deleted.

1. Go to a non-search page on ddg.com such as duckduckgo.com/updates
2. Enable JavaScript back.
3. Your searches should now go to the full fledged version.
Please let me know how that goes!

Oh it looks like you disabled JavaScript on DDG?
That one is a bit annoying because of their auto redirect to a that html.xxx subdomain.
Can you please try these steps? π

I'd rather not depend on anything made by Firefox. They're not reliable. Catching up with whatever changes they could introduce all of a sudden would get old soon enough.

If I can't manage to fund the development of a macOS version, I'm hoping that some desktop browser extension could help syncing tabs/favorites/history with Chrome and Firefox.

The mere fact that LLM-generated results are not deterministic should be enough to discredit that comparison with compilers.

I was drawn to Quiche for its lack of 4 annoyances:
1. No VPN
2. No AI
3. No Crypto Wallet
4. No suggested services
I get browser companies need to monetise, but here I am paying for a browser so I can support a developer who has no interest in monetising at the expense of user experience.

Great news for me as an indie browser maker:
Safari is rumored to be rebuilt around AI features in iOS 27!
If even Apple joins the Browser AI-Enshittification League, I canβt think of a better opportunity for Quiche Browser to stand out as the radically minimalist/no-nonsense alternative to Safari.

Customizable gestures in Quiche Browser are my main focus right now.
Theyβll let you replace what your most important buttons do and, if youβre into hardcore minimalism like me, keep only the pageβs information for calmer, more immersive reading.

What a lovely surprise to discover my little indie web browser so tastefully featured on a YouTube channel about minimalism and aesthetics in tech.
(Both very much my thing, and what I try to put into Quiche Browser.)

Once custom blocking lists are supported, it'll be possible to define your own CSS-based element removals. The "hide distracting items" would be great but a bit challenging, and not always error proof. If I tackle scriptlets support first, I think the blocker can get a lot more powerful.

βInsane but actually really lovelyβ could be a fitting description of my app, and probably of the whole idea of trying to build a sustainable business around a web browser with a silly name.

Reasonably sized phones are unfortunately an extinct species, but Comfort Mode helps bring some reachability back.

Swipe-to-close gestures now available in Quiche Browser!
Iβve already received some positive feedback so hopefully they feel so good youβll open 100 random tabs just for the fun of swipe-closing them.
(I just did.)
