Happy Saturday folks! This week's challenge is Varth (arcade). As always, scores can be posted in this thread and/or the challenge site: mycrappygames.com/highscores/D...
All are welcome to play, and feel free to invite friends!
Same here. The offerings in this Distro are very limited. If I planed on using this one, I'd go download a better pack.
That's after I already messed with the panels. I thought it would use less resources, but really it's not much different than any of the other distros I've tried except it looks worse, and required me to do more manual setup than I would have expected.
Distros also get extra points from me if I don't have to setup the touch pad to accept single finger taps as left clicks, and two finger taps as right clicks.
I wish more distros would just have that set right from the go.
Yeah, many distros will need you to go into power management, and instruct the OS on what to do when the lid is closed (easy GUI check marks, or drop-down lists. Some Distros will just have those set for you right from the start.
Tryan Devuan this morning. I don't know if I like it.

Long story short, over the years I've fallen in love with this cheap piece of plastic.

The majority of the game challenges I post are created on this little guy. It emulates loads of machings from Pong through the Dreamcast, and I can still screen capture, and edit the game video.
On top of that I can still program in MS Code, and then watch 4k videos when I what to chill.

I needed a laptop for work ASAP, and grabbed this one off the shelf, and installed Linux Mint. Over the years I've grown to love this little machine. I love daily driving on a machine with 4GB of RAM.

I bought this laptop like 7 years ago for a one-off project that required Windows. The machine was used for a month, and then shelved. I hated this laptop, it is very cheap, and weak.
That said my awesome gaming laptop died a few months after I shelved this weak sauce machine.
I've got a desktop that I'm going to try some of the more demanding Distros, but that will be this weekend. You are correct I have been looking for lighter weight distros to check out on my aging laptop :)
Bazzite is next on my list. Downloading the ISO now.
Cool. I haven't played with Rhino. I'll check it out.
Yeah, Mint has been my daily driver for years. Somehow I always go back to it.
Linux Mint. I've had zero issues with it and closing/opening.
I've been reading a lot about it over the last couple of weeks.
Sparky isn't off to a great start. It can't handle me closing my laptop, and going into sleep mode ๐ฒ
I wanted to try CachyOS on this laptop, but my processor is too old. It should work on my iMac, but I've got so much emulation setup on that rig, so I really don't want to touch it.
I have a newer test PC that a buddy from work just dropped off, and I think it's CPU will handle too.
haven't Distro hopped for a long time. I'm starting out with Sparky Linux 7 this morning. So far it seems pretty snappy on this low-end hardware.
What Distro should I hop to next?
Cool beans!
Does that one have a sensor in the cartridge, or is it fine in emulation?
