To this day I remember that 32 years ago, a Taco Bell burrito supreme was $2.11 after tax at the location on my college campus...because that was my ONE daytime meal.

I have a strong hypothesis that no matter if you think most people would take advantage of you OR that most people would deal fairly with you, either way, you are right.
Yes, in the same way Klan members will say they "aren't racist"
Of course it has. That's been plain to everyone who bothered to look since day one.
Same thing with colour choices in an image...you pick a colour, you use it in the way that makes sense for that colour. There is no 'BEST' option, just the one you use.
In my music, the sound determines how I use it...so sure, my song might sound different if I used a different sample...but then it would be a DIFFERENT SONG.
"How do you pick which sample to use?"
....mostly, it's just the first one I click on....certainly within the first 5.
I can't ever remember a time when I really *cared* what preset I used, or what tool, or if a slider was at '88' or '82', in music, or art, or programming, or...anything.
Maybe it's how my ADHD manifests, but I just grab something and GO!
I was watching a YouTube video about "Choice Paralysis", and all I could think was, "Damn, must suck to have that!"
If you see this, post a robot
Much as I love you folks, I'm hoping for that 'immediately snatched back up' option :D
Assuming I don't immediately get snatched back up by a show, I'm planning on taking a few weeks to rest, and then get back to my YouTube livestreaming, which has been on hiatus since September.
Even though it wasn't as a concept artist/illustrator, I've been very fortunate that my 3 week gig designing a food truck and a self-driving taxi turned into 6 months of being able to pay my bills without worry.
Got my official "end of show wrap notice" - I'm going to be on the market and looking again on March 23rd.
Happy Mario day!
I have successfully registered for absentee voting in Wake County, NC. Here's hoping that still matters!
Imagine the reaction in the US if ~175 schoolgirls had been killed by a targeted Iranian missile. (Or anyone's missile.)
This is an atrocity.
...and sure, further south, might be different..but there's not much further south in BC than Vancouver...so it's a moot point.
All these people talking about how standard time is "better for you"...LAST WEEK in standard time was the first time I've seen sun on my drive to work in 6 months....my circadian rhythms aren't going to notice a change.
If my mornings are a wash, I'll ALWAYS take an hour of sunlight after work, or at least in the afternoon in deep winter.
My Vancouver take on permanent DST:
Winter: Dawn at 9:15am is after I get to work, but...so is dawn at 8:15am. Net nothing.
Summer: Dawn at 5:15am is before I want to be awake....so is dawn at 4:15am. Net nothing.
I, for one, appreciate dawn NOT being at 4:15am in June and July....and I'll take that hour of light after I get off work very happily too....In Vancouver, it's going to be dark when I drive to work in December and January either way.
This site is JUST as corporate as Meta or X, it just tries to hide it a little better.
This was always inevitable, and why I still post on Mastodon. I came here 'cause people were here, not because I thought it was good, or would *stay* good.
Um, yep, this says what needs to be said.
It is a challenge to breathe these days. On the plus side, hard times tend to produce great art. So if we still have movie theaters in a couple of years, there’ll be balms to be had.
Now, I'm more simply *inspired* by the way certain artists break the mould...artists like Gary Numan, PWEI, Skinny Puppy. I love how they seem to keep trying stuff, and it pushes me to do the same.
In the old days, I tried to make my music *sound* like my inspirations - spent a lot of time trying to mimic VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, Assemblage 23 and Cruxshadows...mostly failed.
1st prize a Volca modular. Second prize, 2 Volca Modulars!
I kinda want an FM2, but not enough to pay for a new one.
