Just remembered Mythic Quest season 4 is available. Time for a brew βοΈ
I put JavaScript on my Roomba.
This might be the stupidest video you watch all week, but I promise you'll either learn something or be entertained.
Full build now up!

Hello new friends! Thank you for following me from the evil FB empire. Let's be bad guys. πβοΈπ¨
Really impressed with Codeium for multi-file edits. Need to play with it a bit more though.
Back to work tomorrow. One thing about self employment is Sunday blues arenβt a thing.
Occasional fear of bills on the horizon, sure. But no Sunday blues π
I am so pleased with how this turned out! On desktop, hover over the bottom left corner. Otherwise close the window and go from there. This is still all zero JS.
βLast day of the holidaysβ. Watching my new copy of Dog Soldiers in 4k, might follow up with playing some Tomb Raider or Zelda this afternoon.

File over app is a philosophy: if you want to create digital artifacts that last, they must be files you can control, in formats that are easy to retrieve and read. Use tools that give you this freedom. File over app is an appeal to tool makers: accept that all software is ephemeral, and give people ownership over their data. In the fullness of time, the files you create are more important than the tools you use to create them. Apps are ephemeral, but your files have a chance to last. The ancient temples of Egypt contain hieroglyphs that were chiseled in stone thousands of years ago. The ideas hieroglyphs convey are more important than the type of chisel that was used to carve them. The world is filled with ideas from generations past, transmitted through many mediums, from clay tablets to manuscripts, paintings, sculptures, and tapestries. These artifacts are objects that you can touch, hold, own, store, preserve, and look at. To read something written on paper all you need is eyeballs.
Today, we are creating innumerable digital artifacts, but most of these artifacts are out of our control. They are stored on servers, in databases, gated behind an internet connection, and login to a cloud service. Even the files on your hard drive use proprietary formats that make them incompatible with older systems and other tools. Paraphrasing something I wrote recently: "If you want your writing to still be readable on a computer from the 2060s or 2160s, itβs important that your notes can be read on a computer from the 1960s." You should want the files you create to be durable, not only for posterity, but also for your future self. You never know when you might want to go back to something you created years or decades ago. Donβt lock your data into a format you canβt retrieve. These days I write using an app I help make called Obsidian, but itβs a delusion to think it will last forever. The app will eventually become obsolete. Itβs the plain text files I create that are designed to last. Who knows if anyone will want to read them besides me, but future me is enough of an audience to make it worthwhile.

Thinking my dislike for the Jaguar concept car is because it reminds me of the 90s when software started making gradient creation easy, and you saw them badly done on everything. Apart from that, could be interesting.

Havenβt heard of that, Iβll have to track it down! Not my turn to drive apparently, so Iβll see what theyβve got π»
Random thought of the afternoon. In the Aliens and Alien Romulus films, what if βget away from her you bitchβ is an in-universe pop culture reference like βIβd buy that for a dollarβ is in RoboCop π€
Oh definitely stout weather π» Think Iβm driving tonight so the best I can hope for is Guinness 0.0, but otherwise Iβd say Shandon Stout if itβs on tap, Guinness, or if weβre going lager Moretti Sale di Mare. How about you?

This has become a bit of a tradition for me. Every Black Friday, I select a couple of lessons from my courses and make them public for a few days. This way, potential students can test-drive the content and see if itβs a good fit for them!
The doors have just opened. π
Howβs the late afternoon panning out?

Accessibility tip: capitalise each word in your hashtags, #LikeThis! This helps visually impaired users, whose assistive technologies will be better able to announce the hashtags as distinct words. And it helps with readability for sighted users, too! #AccessibilityTips #MakeTheWorldAccessible
Also in the daily driver toolkit, Herd and Tinkerwell by Beyond Code. Theyβve got a Black Friday sale on too, well worth a look. Might treat myself to an Expose license tooβ¦
